Rugged fenix 8 AMOLED Sapphire Sport Watch with elite GPS, maps, and ultra battery

What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:

"I moved to the fenix 8 for the sapphire screen and multi-band GPS, and it’s been rock solid. The AMOLED is crisp in sun or storm, SatIQ holds a lock in canyons, and the LED flashlight is clutch for pre-dawn starts. Training Readiness and recovery time keep me honest between big days, and the battery just won’t quit."

We count on the fenix 8 AMOLED Sapphire Sport Watch when adventure spans from alpine starts to night laps. The bright, scratch-resistant sapphire lens and vivid AMOLED display make maps and metrics pop, while the built-in LED flashlight keeps us moving when headlamps fade. With multi-band GPS and SatIQ, routes stay precise in dense forest, slot canyons, and crowded cities without draining the tank.

Beyond navigation, this watch coaches smarter training. Morning Report, Training Status, suggested workouts, recovery time, HRV, and Pulse Ox help us line up the day—push or recover—so we can string together consistent gains. With 10ATM water rating, phone-call capability via built-in speaker, and battery life that stretches from big weeks to expedition tracking, it’s the one watch we trust for everything from tempo runs to technical missions.

So many features!

To be fair, I don't think I have given this watch enough time to fully appreciate what it can do. With that being said, I haven't found anything that I want it to do that it can't. It acts as my heart rate monitor connected to my e-bike, records my dirt bike rides, and tracks each lap I do on my snowboard. I have a small wrist and it fits great. I play rough and this watch is durable. I have even used the flashlight a few times and it is bright.

Pulse Ox doesnt work

I bought this watch specifically for the pulse ox feature and it is absolutely impossible to do a manual reading with this watch. It will do its own readings once in a while but manually it’s absolutely impossible. I’ve tried reaching out to tech-support. They said you have to hold still I’ve tried dozens of times, a person can’t hold anymore still and yet it still throws an error saying unable to read the features of the watch marginally well

Long-time Garmin customer.

I have been a long-time Garmin customer with many watches going back to the Fenix 3. I have been happy with all, and now that I have both Enduro 3 and the Fenix 8. Both watches are excellent, and I use them at various times for my daily needs. However, the Fenix 8 offers the most capabilities for what I hoped a smartwatch would be during my daily use. The AMOLED is excellent, and mapping is crisp. The build quality is superb, and I do not worry about damage to any part of the smartwatch. I highly recommend this for anyone looking for a watch that can literally do it all and then some. The other great thing about Garmin is that they still offer updates to my previous watches, so I can say that all my previous watches still work well and have maintained great battery and functionality.

Awesome Features not just a watch.

I got this as a gift about 3 weeks ago. NI really love it. I also have a Fenix3 HR, but is one takes it to the top of the hill. So many more features.

Transitioning from Samsung smart watch

I have had Fenix 8 for about 3 weeks. I have noticed the differences from a watch that is dependent on the phone and the Garmin which is like a stand alone (it does not need a phone all the time). I do wish Garmin would have some settings like tell me when I have walked away from my phone or that the focus/dnd & alarms modes work together, but they don't. Maybe one day Garmin will figure out how to have a setting for turning off the adaptive brightness. It doesn't matter how bright you set it, in dim light the watch face dims as well and it is hard to see. It is hit or miss with the other than factory watch faces that you can touch on the face with the features if they will open or not. Other than those things to get used to I am really loving the fact I can go 20 days without charging my watch. I can actually go on a vacation without my watch charger. The watch does take some getting use to but once you get the hang of it, it's something awesome. I do recommend it for active people, it is very robust and capable. Of course I'm hoping with some updates Garmin will get there. If your the type pf person that leaves their phone home a lot then this is the watch for you.

3 weeks in...

I decided to upgrade from the Venue 2 plus to the Fenix 8. The Fenix had some GPS features I really wanted so I took advantage of the Black Friday sale. Much like my old watch, this watch is great. The screen is so easy to read and it is easy to navigate. My favorite feature is honestly the flashlight! It is so dang handy! The one thing I am a little disappointed in and the reason I am only giving 4 stars is the accuracy of the heartrate monitor. It is way less accurate than my old watch. Like sometime 30 to 40 beats per minute low. I would think for the giant increase in price that this would be a lot better. Having been on some Garmin forums since buying the watch to see if there is a fix it appears I am not the only one with this problem.

Amazing Watch

I bought this fenix 8 to replace my fenix 5 that I have had for a few years. Wow! it so intuitive as to what I want. Really like the smaller face less bulky. The Golf app is so much better and easier to use, once I figured it out.

Legit

Touch screen is great. Battery life with a heavy draining screen saver / and many workouts a week is still at 7 days at least.
