Great laces!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great shoes! Now keep in mind that I just use these for everyday use. I just work outside a lot and wanted something that was comfortable that could handle different types of terrain. It surprised me to see that you don't have traditional laces on these shoes that you have to tie. You just slip them on! I was uncertain about this feature at first but now I love it! It is so convenient not having to worry about tying laces or worrying about them becoming undone throughout the day. Now I only want to get shoes with these type of laces. I highly recommend these shoes for everyday use! However, I cannot speak for hiking.

Stay away from poor material quality

Normally I rarely write reviews, but in this case I can't resist doing so: About my profile as a hiker, hiked a lot in the German, Austrian and Swiss Alps, did the Annapurna Circuit without a guide in Nepal last February. Bought and used a lot of outdoor gear in my life so far, in various price ranges. I'm currently in Japan and decided relatively spontaneously to walk the Kumano Kodo Pilgrimage Trail. It is technical terrain, so heavy footwear is not absolutely necessary. So I decided to buy some light trail shoes in Kobe. When I passed a Columbia store I thought "I'll give the brand a chance" Bought the relatively new-fangled looking shoes... One day later, after 14 kilometers of hiking through the forest (not difficult terrain), my foot is completely wet from sweat, not so tragic as you can take the insoles out to dry, and I wouldn't have expected them to be breathable in this price range. What I would have expected, however, was that the shoes would not break in directly at the side after such a short time. After the first day of hiking, the rubberized side protection layer detaches from the mesh fabric, clearly not thought through to the end in the functional design, as the cut of the rubber does not follow the anatomical movement of the foot and too much tension is created -> collapse of the rubber and separation from the mesh fabric after only one day. As I had already thrown away the receipt and shoe box after the purchase, there is no possibility of exchanging the shoe in another city afterwards. Shoe goes straight into the garbage can after trekking. Don't you even test your shoes before you put them on the market? Talking about durable materials in the shoe description is a joke.

This shoe does not fit to size

Familiarity:
I returned this product before using it
Size Bought:
12
Height:
5' 11"
Weight:
160

This shoe is fits sloppy, and has no support. Zero. Both the exterior box, and the shoe box, were punctured upon arrival. Not well packaged. After trying it on at home, I immediately returned it for these reasons. Backcountry is not a return friendly company. Not only do they charge for return shipping, but they kept the tax on the shoe. The latter I do not understand, as they have the shoe back, and they are reselling it. Honestly, I am not an attorney, but that has to be fraud on some level. Will investigate. I would not recommend buying from this store unless you have tried the item on elsewhere and you are SURE that it fits, and you are just looking for a cheaper price. In the end, you will lose money if you return it!

Comfortable but run big

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Love the shoes but they run really big IMO. Normally an 11.5 had to re-order 10.5

I want to like them but…

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I wanted to really like this shoe, the weird fit of the right shoe made me return them. My heel kept lifting out and they just didn’t feel like a premium hiking shoe

GRREAT AND COMFORTABLE!

The quality of the shoe is nice however the only issue I dealt with was at the back of the shoe. The HEEL LOOP that assisted on pulling the shoe on broke requiring me to reinforce with needle & thread. Other than that, great shoe.

Upgrade from the Columbia facet 45

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been a a big fan of the facet line. As I write this review, I’m wearing the facet 45. The Facet 75 alpha has some notable improvements in the synching system and the rear, pull on loop. These shoes are absolutely necessary for Pacific Northwest weather. They are easy to get on, have great traction, keep my feet dry, and look cool
