Why We Like The Black Diamond Recon Stretch Bib Ski Pant
Whether we're earning your turns or lapping lifts, the Recon Stretch Bib Ski Pant from Black Diamond keeps us comfortable, moving, and dry. Its BD.dry waterproof membrane offers protection on stormy days while also providing breathability on long tours in the backcountry. An updated, low-profile beacon pocket stows avy gear when we venture out of bounds, and thigh pockets store daily necessities. Offset side venting dumps heat when we're boot-packing and lapping turns in deep powder, while the high-mounted snow gaiter keeps out those fresh flakes for day-long comfort in the snow.

Great Bib
5’10 170 size Medium These fit perfectly, I can wear them with a thin base layer or with my puffy pants underneath if I need more warmth. They stay dry and have great stretch. Only 2 complaints, one is the side entry, I think I might like the front zip of the pro version a little better. The second is the gaiter, I would like if it had an adjustment to make it tighter when wearing winter boots.

Super sketchy stitching design on the Suspenders - Never got to use them. Awaiting a BD resolution. . . Rating SCORE subject to change?
So the new amber/black bibs never got out the door yesterday because as I was adjusting them to size for the first time, the right shoulder just blew off because their design approach was to stitch right through the plastic "loop" where the suspender runs through. This creates a perforation just like that of the seal strip on a feedbag. . . a little bit of tensioning and the whole strip rips off neatly and it's gone. When you see the resulting complete failure of this system, and how vulnerable it is and how weak it is, it's pretty baffling. And yes, as an aside and to confirm what others here have said, I am a perfect (M) medium and they are actually unnecessarily snug in the torso area. For me, not too snug such that I can't use them, but why design them with anything other than necessary length adjustments? It shouldn't be like a gunny sack approach. If a person likes to layer underneath and not over - which many do - more than two (or three?) thin layers would probably make them too snug with no way to loosen them or adjust for width. So otherwise they seem well made. Kind of oxymoronic, isn't it?, considering what I said above. I'm curious how BD will respond to my warranty claim. I bought the Recon Stretch Pro Jacket in a matching color, hoping to have a nice new kit that would last for years. I know that if I hold the course I'll always be thinking that these suspenders could just rip cleanly at the plastic at any moment. Speaking of a matching kit, one more apropos vent: why not have more of the "Recon Stretch Pro" bibs in matching colorways to the "Recon Stretch Pro" shell jackets? the "Stretch Pro" bibs appear to have a different suspender system, for one. I started by selecting a "Recon Stretch Pro" shell jacket and had to pivot to the "Recon Stretch" bibs to get something that would match. . . The amber was only available in the non-Pro line. **PS - From all of the reviews here on the non-Pro bibs, nobody else has mentioned this problem. Yes I am surprised. . .

Runs small
I am 5'11" 175lbs and I wear a medium in everything but in this i needed a large. The torso part of these fit very tight. In the medium with an r1 on I could barely get it to zip up. But the large fits perfect. They are very stretchy and the BD dry stuff works great. I use them for touring and resort stuff and I will probably never own anything different as long as BD keeps making these.

great do it all bib
i like the baggy fit which allows layerings depending whether being in or outside the resort. the top comes off and the front can flap over the belt which was super helpful during really hot touring days. the top kangaroo pocket is super useful for holding phones and snacks

Yet to use, but decided
Yet to use, but decided to switch from dakine bibs for the season. I am 5’7” 150lbs w a short inseam and couldn’t make the smalls work w layers, exchanged for medium and a much better fit. Only complaint is the gaiters seem too wide and not adjustable. The built in belt is nice but not very functional. Curious to see how well the breath and can dump heat touring w only side zips

Best bib I’ve owned
Huge pockets, well thought out beacon pocket, modern design/fit, every cuff is adjustable, and the materials/seams are skookum. Very clearly designed by people who ski. This + the stretch shell and first light hoody is all you need for south-central AK touring or the coldest day at Alyeska

Comfy and Light
Really like the nice fit of the bibs and the ability to raise the legs with the bib straps so they don't drag on the ground. Also they are much lighter than I expected and should be awesome for touring.

Amazing Ski Pants!
Bought these pants last season and have been using them all over the mountain. Keeps everything dry and tons of great pockets. Mainly a shell so wearing some base layers is best case, and fits snug around the chest so maybe size up!

Solid bibs
Very sturdy construction. Love the stretch. Seems more than ample for wet powder days and tours. Excited for next season.
