Why We Built The Backcountry Slickrock 9in Bike Short

"The lightweight fabric is perfect for the high temps during summer rides." —Gearhead® Expert Jessie

Whether we want to save some precious grams and show a little thigh or go from trail to town without changing our shorts, our Backcountry Slickrock 9in Short sits high atop our list of double-duty bike shorts. The 4-way stretch fabric and close-to-the-body fit give us full freedom of movement for tackling technical high alpine rock gardens and sandstone slickrock descents, while the integrated belt and waistband gripper ensure that our shorts stay put, no matter how rocky the trail gets.

missing my 7inch inseam

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer
Size Bought:

Height:
5' 10"
Weight:
230

Hey Backcountry! I'm 5'10" with a fairly long torso & short legs. The 7 inch inseam fit me really well. Please bring it back! I ride multiple days a week and i'm constantly digging through my laundry for my shorts. I want to buy more! I mainly ride cross country, and I don't wear knee pads. I don't like fabric pulling on my knees when i'm cycling. Not all MTB riders are hitting the chairlifts, yet the entire industry is putting out 9-12 inch inseams, meant to ride with kneepads, which only caters to one style of rider. Please be the outlier and capture the business of people needing shorter inseams and more interested in the long climbs and epic rides than the jumps and drops.

It's a great short, BUT...

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

You can't get it unless you are an XL or XXL. I bought my size small in the spring and went back later to get another pair in a different color, but they were out. I have been waiting for a restock for about four months. It is a great short. I bought the green one, and I want to purchase the Bistre. I hope someday they restock.

My new go-to short

These are really a great pair of shorts. They are light, stretchy, and fashionable. They are noticeably more stretchy and lighter than the Zoic shorts I've been wearing for the past year. Definitely would recommend

Amazing all round shorts (7inch version)

These are my most favourite shorts. I have the 7" version (please bring them back!). I've tried so many competitor brands, not necessarily bike specific but I cannot find something that fits and feels as good as these shorts. I use them for all kinds of sports now because they are so much lighter than normal sports shorts, but really durable. The 7" versions fit like normal shorts, so you can wear them casually too and they look really nice.

Finally something for short people!

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

These are great shorts and something I have been looking for since I am short and tired of the 13 inch length shorts out there. I am 5' 6" with a 30.5 inch inseam and these sit above my knee. So far they have been great on my rides. Really comfortable, and have been resistant to tears on some brambly trails. I like the waist adjustability, that should last a lot longer than the velcro options out there. Pockets are good for a phone, and I like the vents on the inside of the legs. I would be even happier if they had one pocket in the back but I will take what I can get in this size/length.

I'm happy with my purchase, the fit is great, and I could wear the shorts even if not for mountain biking. They're so comfortable and breathable.

Best riding short!

Love these shorts for mountain biking. The pockets in the front zip close so you can store your car keys without fearing loss. The waist clip is infinitely adjustable so you can get the best fit. Also, the fabric survives crashes, to which I can attest. I have had them for two years and the still look new.

I've used these a few times now and am quite happy with the shorts. I'm not a fan of long, really baggy shorts so these fit the bill perfect for me. Stretchy enough to be comfortable, but not so stretchy that they snag on the saddle. I really like the integrated belt on them too. The Aspen Green color is fantastic!

The Perfect bike pants

Familiarity:

I have purchased a few of these and they are awesome. Well made with quality materials, great feel and fit. More importantly, they fit just right, not too tight and not too loose for my preference. These pants were earlier in the $40 to $50 range, however, they are $100 now. That would be my only mark against these bike shorts.

Comfortable Shorts

Familiarity:

I am 5'10", 150 lbs, size 31" waist and the Small size fit well. Shorts are very comfortable and seem to be well made. I like the way the belt works. Would recommend.
