Bring the WOMEN'S TIMP 3 back!
The newer shoes have too thick of a heel - can't feel the ground! I've tried other Altra shoes, the TIMP 3 was the best design. The colors were good too. I don't care for the neon, hideous colors of the newer models

Wearing out at 160 miles
I trail run and backpack in these shoes. I bought them in June and have 160 miles in them. I bought these shoes because I was having pain in my left foot at the widest point. When I bought these, I found them painful to wear because the plastic outer piece kept them from stretching the way that the Escalantes can stretch. Because of my foot pain (and having been reading that people should size up in running shoes) I bought an 8.5 after years of using 8s generally. I find them gigantic. I thought I would get used to it, but no. I have a terrible time getting foot placements that I trust. I trip a lot (in them and normally...). The tread wasn't amazing to begin with and, I find the tread is wearing out already. I hope for running shoes to last at least 300 miles and typically find that trail shoes last even longer, but I'm already thinking about replacing these because I'm slipping around trying to run in them. The light blue color and fabric also just holds on to and shoes all of the dirt.

Is there a shoe with treads that compares to the Escalante?
Because it felt too big, I used the extra holes to tie the shoes. But maybe that made them too tight around my left ankle. Anyway, in contrast to my beloved Escalantes, the left shoe especially was uncomfortable when walking. So I'm returning them. There is a softness and flexibility in the Escalantes that makes my feet happy. It's hard to find in other styles.

Awkward fit
I love the dark gray and pink color scheme, the natural foot shape, and cushion for rocky AZ trails, but the shoe is way too tight across the forefoot (I don't wear a wide shoe), but at the same time it's too wide at the heel and my heel slips even with it laced all the way back. I really wanted these to work but need to send them back.

Love ALL my Altras!
I run my dogs in agility trials in the trail runners (TIMP2 and TIMP3), my feet never get sore anymore - and I get 25K-35K steps a day. Wear my Solstice in the gym and wear my Escalantes to work. No more plantar fasciitis, no more losing toenails! Also do some personal training and got one of my clients into a pair of Escalantes - she loves them so much she bought another pair.

third pair
I have completely worn out the two previous Timp models. Currently wearing the Timp 2.0 in size 9. I ordered a Timp 3.0 in 9 and they are way too big. Sadly, returning and trying an 8.5. The toe box is bigger as well as the arch area. I love these shoes and would purchase another 2.0 in a heart beat.

Just bought my second pair.
Best hiking/walking shoes I've ever owned. This is my second pair. Toe box is so nice and roomy. Grip and cushioning feel superior to other walking/running shoes I've used. I take a size 8 wide in other brands and the size 8 feels great. I wear them on the hiking trail, neighborhood streets and around town. Love them.

I seems like the models are getting narrower???
I have been wearing Altra TIMPs for several years now. They really help because I have hammer toes and the space in the toe box allows my toes to spread out naturally. But this model seems narrower.

Treadmill Champ
Needed to do treadmill rehab to keep the pain down on a R hip that will need a total replacement in a few years. I found excellent side-to-side heel stability during indoor power walking with the TIMP 3 but needed to add more arch support and this required 0.5 size increase. I know there always seems to be reported of feature & fit changes between new versions, and I have difficult to fit feet, so I bought two more pair of these shoes to hold in reserve.

Liked the timp 2 , do not like the timp 3 at all
The timp 3 causes pronation. I have custom orthotics from my orthopedic Dr and even with my orthotics the timp 3 is not comfortable to run long distance in, and they cause ankle soreness from the shoes turning in and causing pronation. I had a trail marathon to do and felt like I was getting a bad stress fracture in my left ankle every time I ran in the trmp 3. Two days before my marathon I went to fleet feet and they watched me run and said how bad the timp 3 turned in. I switched to a brooks pair and my ankle pain was instantly gone and I ran the trail marathon on the brooks with no pain at all during or after the race. These timps are awful and I would not recommend. A friend of mine ended up with severe hip issues from the timp 2 and 3 due to them causing pronation and she has worn timps for several years. Ugh!
