Why We Like The YETI Hopper 2.0 M30

We enjoy YETI's softer side with the Hopper 2.0 M30. This soft-sided cooler features closed cell foam to keep things cold and fits a full case of our favorite beverages, holding up to 42 cans, 32 pounds of ice, or 13 wine bottles for a weekend of fun. The MagShield Access mouth opens wide for easy unloading and unloading and seals up snug, thanks to the magnetic closure and Quick-Release buckles to keep everything locked down cold. DEATH TRAP FOR PETS & SMALL KIDS

We purchased the M30 Hopper after it was reissued following a voluntary recall, believing it had been made safer. Tragically, it was not. Our cat suffocated to death inside the cooler after the magnetic closure sealed shut when she jumped in. The cooler is airtight and soundproof—her desperate cries for help went unheard, and I found her lifeless inside, with claw marks from her futile attempts to escape. This devastating loss has shattered our family, but we are painfully aware it could have been far worse. The M30 is large enough for a young child to fit inside, and we shudder to think about what might have happened if our three-year-old had been the one trapped instead. It's worth noting that the dimensions of the M30 are larger than those of the average crawling 18-month-old. When we contacted Yeti, they acknowledged the danger and mentioned plans to add warnings about child and pet suffocation to these coolers. But they also said this change would take a long time due to their size as a company. This is unacceptable. A product that poses such a clear and present danger requires immediate action. At the very least, Yeti should urgently add warnings to their website and social media, informing consumers of the risk. We implore Yeti to prioritize safety over bureaucracy and urge all potential buyers to be aware of this danger. Don’t wait until it’s too late—ensure your loved ones are safe from this hazard.
