I am writing this review on behalf of my husband! I do all of our purchasing and I read extensively before I make any purchases. In our collection of outerwear, we have Canada Goose, Mackage, Patagonia and Burberry. I was looking for something different for my husband's next jacket, and I certainly found that in this parka. It is a smaller company, one that I hadn't heard of before. I'll admit that what first caught my eye was the price. (I like expensive stuff, haha!) The style was unique for a parka. Canada Goose is fairly bulky and looks weird over a suit. The Burberry coat he has is wool and is unsuitable when we get snow showers that is typical of our winters. I wanted something waterproof that still looked "dressy". Enter the Regulator Parka! When I saw that it was a European company, I asked my parents (who were there on vacation!) to pick up this jacket for us. And it has surpassed all of our expectations! This is truly an exceptional garment and from the second I touched it, I knew it was the perfect buy. The fabric is different from any other that I have touched. Both the lining and outer material feel so different - SO soft and smooth and just a touch of stretch. Husband says that it is the most comfortable coat he's ever worn, and he's a man of few compliments! But even he grudgingly admits that he likes it. It looks dapper over a suit, and chic on the weekend in jeans. I honestly love it! He is tall and skinny and this is a perfect cut on him. So many American brand clothing absolutely SWIM on his frame, but this is a perfectly tailored fit on him. I realize I'm gushing about it, but honestly just wanted to share my enthusiasm! When it comes time to buy another jacket, I'm definitely going for another Uber!

I bought this a year ago because of the slim fit style. I have tested it in New England winter this year (2017) which is currently in below freezing temperature. And I have nothing but good praises on this parka! It is really warm even if the temperature outside is 28 degrees. Just this week we are experience sub zero temperature (-6 degrees) with wind chill factor. All you need to add is a good layer, gloves, and a neck warmer and that's it. You don't have to bulk up and add several layers just to be warm. I can't believe that this thin and stylish can retain your body warmth sufficiently. The waterproof really works. I can see the rain water just sliding along the sleeves of the parka. The only problem that I have on this parka is the main zipper and the magnetic closure. The zipper looks really chip compared to other well know brands. But I think it is because it is thin and provides to the overall stylishness of the parka. The magnetic closure annoys me as it only have magnets on the neck part and at the bottom. So if you open the neck area and the bottom area, the 'flap' will stay open and that annoys me. Besides that I really love this parka!!

Great Jacket, looks good work or casual

I needed a new winter coat for work and casual. I typically wear a sports coat at work so I needed a something to accommodate a coat. Also, for casual, I layer, typically with a sweater or sweatshirt. I got the medium based on the UBER sit sizing and the specifications. On arrival, it is a slim fit. Now, I am 5'10", weigh 175, and bike, run, row, and stay in decent shape. My waist is 32 inches with a chest of 39 inches. With this medium, it felt fine with nothing but a shirt, but if I wore anything else, I felt confined. I watched the UBER video again, and noted that the videos show people having a little more room and freedom in the coat than I did with my medium. https://player.vimeo.com/video/79486654?autoplay=1 So, I got a large and tried both on, back and forth. I am going with the large. It is still nicely contoured, and the internal snaps allow the ability to slightly cinch the waist. There are three of them. It is a little longer, and I have turned up the sleeves, not a big deal. The added length of the large is a plus. It allows a little more length and fully covers all sports coats. I think it looks better. So, the medium for me was a little too snug. OK if all you are going to do is wear t shirt or light dress shirt. But if you layer, wear a sweater or coat, I would suggest the large. I am keeping the large, returning the medium. A big thanks to Backcountry for making this process easy. Plus, it was last years model, 50% off was nice. This years model, based on pictures and sizing looks almost identical. It appears slightly longer, not certain about other aspects.

This jacket is expensive but it's the only parka I could find that ticked off all the boxes - it looks perfect, the features are great and it uses great fabric and insulation. I'm partial to dark Navy and BC was out of black so I got the Navy in Medium. It's a very nice color - in low light conditions, it appears very dark and in bright light conditions as in the picture - it lightens up a bit appearing more blue-ish but still dark. The front hand pockets are well positioned and made from beefy Polartec fleece - pockets that will actually keep your hands warm. Pair at the hip and pair at the waist. The magnetic closure front flap closure is really cool - the bottom set is strong and holds the bottom closed well while the upper set at the chin is smaller, weaker and has trouble joining and staying closed - for the most part - the top of the placket lays flat without it being engaged. There are also buttons holding the shoulder pocket closed and there is a magnet on the bottom of the internal see through cell pocket - I imagine so that you can hinge that pocket up easily to look at your phone without removing the phone from the pocket. The jacket uses Primaloft Infinity insulation which is a continuous filament insulation that was actually designed for sleeping bags to offer more loft and uninterrupted warmth across the sleeping bag (no cold spots as it's a sheet of insulation vs. a bunch of broken up bits that get compressed into one part of the area they fill.) This is going to make it warmer and help it last longer. The hood is removable and adjustable via a bungee draw string around the brim and a velcro closer on the top of the hood to lower the height. I have not had a chance to test this in cold weather yet but I'll update you as soon as I do. I have no doubt that it will be more than warm enough for our colder 20* winters with one layer underneath. It was designed by a Norwegian company for their winters so you know they made it warm. Putting it on, it is instantly and considerably warmer than my other jackets including a thick down jacket that I own. I am 5'10", 150lbs, have 37-38" chest, 34" arms, 32" waist - the medium fits me well with enough room for a shirt and a one or two sweaters underneath. The arms reach down to the joint of my thumb. Length is perfect. The smallest waist size setting on the button'ed waist adjuster works well for me. Cost - wait for a 20% off promo. Then you'll be paying a bit less than what Uber charges European customers for this coat. Docked one star for cost. With the quality face, lining and insulation materials and timeless (but cool) look, I expect this coat to be the last one I buy for 5 years - so that justifies the cost for me. The warranty is short for an expensive coat - 2 years. You can go through Backcountry for warranty issues vs. send your jacket to Norway. I bought this coat with a credit card which doubles all of my warranties. Of note: I emailed Uber about 6 times with questions on their warranty, features and some OCD questions on the shade of the blue jacket. A gentleman, Dag Tresselt, thoughtfully and caringly responded to all of my emails leading to my purchase. A couple days later, I found out that Dag is the founder and owner of Uber. To me, that's really telling how genuine Uber really is for the founder to respond to all of my emails. There are more details about this coat on their website as well as a video overview of the coat by Dag. https://uberfunction.com/men/product/smart-functional-regulator-city-parka.html

Functional while looking great!

I have had this jacket for two years and I truly love it. The fabric is stretchy and really comfortable to wear both in the city or while traveling. Love all the great pockets and how light it is. But the best part of it is the cut and how it looks, you wouldn't expect that from such a warm parka.

I just received this jacket and love the look and feel of it. It is form fitting and love it. One drawback is that the zipper is on the other side (women's) which I thought was odd and I still haven't had a chance to figure this out but this is a weird design.

good first impressions

I was looking for a warm winter coat that could deal with the northeast elements and still look good around town (i.e., not a ski parka). This fits the bill and overall I very much like the jacket, with just a few reservations. First off, the fit is great. I'm 6'2" and 200 lbs and the Large fits me perfectly. But because the jacket is somewhat tailored and because there is a fair amount of insulation, you really can't layer too much underneath without feeling puffy. Contrary to the description, I absolutely do not think I could wear this over a suit jacket unless I took a larger size, but then I don't think it would fit well without a suit jacket. Even layering a shirt and medium thickness sweater has this on the verge of being too puffy and restricting. On the flip side, I wore only a turtleneck underneath this in 30 degree weather and was completely warm, so you probably don't need to layer much. The jacket's technical features are great, including the use of magnets, ample pockets and removable hood. If this jacket was 30-40% cheaper, I'd give it 5 stars without question. Still, it's a great piece of winter gear, just don't plan on layering too much underneath. If you plan to wear multiple layers, or want to wear a suit jacket under, I'd suggest you pick an alternative jacket without so much insulation.
