Access the modern world.
If you're still schlepping to work with a simple school bag, then it's high time you upgraded to The North Face Access 22L Laptop Backpack. Upgraded from last year's version, this innovative laptop pack boasts new features and a redesigned silhouette to help you navigate the modern world with more comfort and convenience than ever before. The most noticeable change is a new silhouette that lets the pack stand upright on its own, so you don't have to worry about it toppling over when you set it down next to your desk.
With the simple push of a button, the main compartment springs open so you can quickly and easily reach the day's documents. There are also ejector systems for your laptop, tablet, and media so you can easily access all your important devices. TNF replaced the aluminum frame with a spring steel one for greater support, and OrthoLite padding throughout the back panel boosts the comfort levels to new heights. Ballistic nylon in high-wear areas ensures this pack with stand up to daily abuse. There's also a built-in locking mechanism for greater peace of mind when you're zipping through the city on your bike.

Poor Workmanship - Avoid Buying Online
For a backpack at this price range from The North Face, one would expect a decent fit and finish. But that is not true. One of the features of this particular backpack is its ability to stand up on its own. This is achieve by a semirigid flat piece at the bottom front of the backpack. On the particular unit I received, the bottom of this flat piece was sewn on unevenly by about 0.5 inches (see photo for exact measurements). This manufacturing defect resulted in a static stability differential between the left and the right side of the backpack. The net effect is that the backpack does not stand on its own as well as a properly manufactured one that I had tried in a REI store. If you are purchasing this backpack, buy it in a physical store so you can inspect it in person. Needless to say, I am very disappointed in The North Face.
Comfortable but small main compartment
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
I used this to commute to work. It fits perfectly and feels comfortable on the shoulders and back. My main complain is that the main compartment feels a little small. A bigger model can work better if you are planning on carrying a lot more than just your laptop and some accessories
