Short protection for long, rainy rides.

The Sportful Fiandre No-Rain Bibshorts get their name from No-Rain Warm material, a stretchy, insulating fleece-lined material that consists of ThermoDrytex Plus that's been hit with Sportful's nanotech water repellent treatment. Though it isn't enough to keep you dry in a sideways-blowing monsoon, it'll hold off normal precipitation no problem. No-Rain Warm is also insulating and very breathable, so if you get too hot on a climb, these bibs will wick away moisture before you freeze on the descent. Of course, the fact that these are shorts means that you can pull on or take off leg warmers as the situation on the road changes.

Like the full-length version, the Fiandre No-Rain Bib Shorts feature Sportful's Bodyfit Pro cut, which is the same fit that Tinkoff-Saxo rides in the peloton. Some cold-weather gear fits like thermal underwear, producing slack that lets the chamois or the seams get out of place and causing havoc from the waist down. You'll appreciate the proper fit and compression of this cut, which keeps everything right where it's supposed to be and supports your thighs, waist, and lower torso.

The Fiandre No-Rain bib shorts also use the Bodyfit Pro line's chamois, a seamless affair that Sportful developed with its stable of pro cyclists and that it bills as the most comfortable long distance insert. Since we've not yet ridden to discomfort with any of their other inserts, we assume that "long distance" means something along the lines of a suspension-free 200 mile trek. Through the Rockies. On singletrack.

The silicone dot gripper along the hems helps the shorts grip your legs or leg warmers, so they won't ride up or expose a strip of skin to the elements. The mesh bib straps reduce bulk and let you control the type and amount of layering you do on your torso. Sportful has also added reflective piping to help keep you visible in low-light conditions.

The Sportful Fiandre No-Rain Bib Shorts are available in seven sizes ranging from X-Small to XXX-Large in the color Black.

    Short straps for tall riders

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: Runs small

These shorts felt great and the material was quality material for cold weather but as the other reviews mentioned the straps were just not long enough. Regretfully I had to return these. I am 6'3" and 260lbs and I returned the 3xl. I have several other pairs of bib shorts (Canari, and Performance from Performance Bikes) that are 3xl and fit fine but they're not cold weather ready so I was really disappointed these didn't work out.

short bib straps killed this one...

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: XL
    • Height: 6'4"
    • Weight: 190lbs

I'm 6'4" tall and thin (35" waist) about 190lbs. I could barely get the XL on. The straps are just way too short. It stinks because I really was excited for these as they would be a great value. Size up one or two sizes and maybe you'll get lucky...

    Nice bibs, great value

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium
    • Height: 5'9"
    • Weight: 147lbs

Very nice bibs. I haven't worn them in the rain yet, so can't comment on their waterproofing, but have worn them a couple of times with knee warmers for Autumn rides (40s through the 60s) and have been happy with the warmth and breathability. The legs are long, almost reaching to the knees, but that provides good coverage. The bib straps were tight at first, but I don't notice them when riding. I usually take Medium in Sportful and Castelli clothing, and Medium worked fine here.

    Great 3 season bibs

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I loved these. Perfect for spring, fall, and most winter days (with knee warmers) in VA. Especially great for the spring/fall days with lots of elevation change, i.e. riding from the valley at 600 feet to cruising on the parkway at 2500-3000 feet. Not to hot on the climb up but keep the chill off up high. And, on super cold days, they go great under my windstopper full length bibs to make a super warm bottom layer. Finally, the pad is great.
*I am 6-4, 210. I have XL's, which are fine on me but a bit delicate the get on, would get 2XL next time.

    Sizing is way off

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: Runs small

I'm only 5'10" with a relatively normal torso length and the bib straps on these were really-really short. Got them over my shoulders and the fit was terrible. The leg grippers are a little rubbery to the touch and pretty thin but If you have a short torso give them a go but don't trust the sizing otherwise.

Correct: I am 5'7 and the medium barely fit over my shoulders -- felt like I was being roughly massaged even in riding position. I am going to exchange for the large, as I my spot test of running water over the bib was impressive.
