While you probably won't need to fell mighty trees on an average camping adventure, it's always nice to have the option. The Snow Peak Japanese Axe gives you the choice of simply pitching your tent or chopping down trees and fashioning a semi-permanent shelter for the winter. If you're not terribly handy, you can use this rugged camping axe for dicing potatoes, slicing hunks of beef, or creating manageable pieces of firewood.
A leather case protects the hand-forged steel blade. Forged steel is easy to sharpen on your own and offers a reliable heft in your hand. Maple often has a consistent, fine grain, giving this axe an ultra-smooth handle with a handsomely consistent appearance. While this axe's two pounds might be a bit much for an extended backcountry excursion, you won't notice the weight if you're car camping, but you will notice how easy it is to get a respectable cord of firewood for the night.
