I love Smart Wool products. Have numerous pairs of their socks and boxer briefs. Funny thing happened just today though. Put on the new pair of Merino Sport 150 Boxer Brief Underwear I just received, and they felt as good as every other pair I have had. But then the funny part, right? Nature called and I unzipped to answer, but after hunting around for a full minute, I found no fly opening. Oh crap! Am I so old that I'm now putting my undies on backward? Long story short, heading for a shower at end of the day, I checked the new briefs and sure enough, NO FLY! I have since checked the write up here on Backcountry.com and found no disclaimer or mention of the omission. Hence only 4 stars. So, buyers/flyers beware. I still love the product though.

A quality item but it misses the mark for me. If they were two inches longer they wouldn't ride up as much, which is inconvenient and hard to fix when you're in layers and on the move. I bought these for multi-day adventures, which often involve a harness, and the lack of a fly is really inconvenient when stopping for a bathroom break in these situations. If these issues aren't relevant for you then I'm sure you'll find this to be a 5/5 piece.

It doesn't really get better...
Admittedly, I'm not a big spender when it comes to underwear ? at least until owning a pair of these and some by OR. These have to be the best I own: ? The fit is excellent. ? The fabric is super breathable ? They very comfortable Smartwool has not let me down on any products yet, so it's no surprise these exceeded expectation. Naturally, they are speedy. But you get what you pay for here.
