Whether we hike fast and light or trudge our way through more technical trails, the Salomon X Ultra 4 GTX Wide Hiking Boot comes through with its lightweight stability and support. The Advanced Chassis and Active Support band on the outer foot support our feet and ankles in dodgy terrain while the Contragrip outsoles feature chevron-shape lugs for great traction on soft and loose surfaces, such as mud, snow, scree, and desert crust. We also like the women-specific fit and the wide size— which gives us more room in the toe box and forefoot for added comfort, especially when our feet swell on long day hikes and backpacking trips.

Comfortable but do not last
I’ve had 3 pairs over 3 years and they seem to wear out quicker each time. Not water resistant after a short time (despite treating them) and my latest pair, purchased in February, are starting to wear badly. Such a shame as they are very comfortable for me with wide feet and bunions. May need to find another brand.

Comfortable and sturdy boots
These light-weight hiking boots are ideal for my foot which has a Morton’s Neuroma, I’ve had a lot of trouble finding a boot that didn’t hurt when I hiked and this is the one. It has a firm sole which supports my foot as I hike over rocks and roots, the medium ankle height prevents the ankle from turning. I highly recommend this boot if your foot is like mine.

Good lightweight boot
I had been looking for a boot that was wide across the toes and these are very comfortable. They have a great grip and I am surprised at how lightweight they are. I've worn them a couple of times and haven't really needed any breaking in.

X Ultra 4 Mid Wide Gore-tex hiking boot
I bought these boots as I was walking the Yorkshire three peaks and as I have wide feet needed a pair of boots that accommodated a wide foot but had the durability and comfort for the long hike , they didn’t disappoint .. they were comfortable for 22 miles ! And kept my feet dry when rained and cool when sun came out , would recommend them highly

Great boot!
My Vásque hiking boots died in the middle of last winter. They were thick leather with Thinsulate. I found these at a sports store. The Gortex works almost as well as the Thinsulate in keeping my feet warm with its reflective properties. Roomy toe box, comfortable step through, grippy tread, good lacing, and darn good looking. Also lighter than the Vasques.

Quality Control problems
I tried 2 pairs of these shoes. One pair was hurting me on the left foot. The other pair was hurting on the right foot. After a careful studies of the problems. I found the tongue (where the shoe laces are) were in different sizes and sewed in different positions. I think it only happened in Wide and this model.

Light Weight, Sturdy, Comfortable
This boot has many positives. Lightweight. Supports my foot when walking on uneven terrain. Good fit. True to size for walking foot wear. Shame about the colour being so light. I spray mine with protecter so makes it easier to clean and maintain waterproofing.

Best hiking boot
I love these mid high boots for hiking in the Black Hills. I do not get pine needles on my shoes anymore! They are also great for navigating across the creeks and scaling steep inclines. Great product.
