Boreo Helmet
Although smart enough to wear Petzl's Boreo Helmet, you should still cower in fear every time you hear that word yelled out at the climbing crag. This helmet is a hybrid of sorts, with denser foam up top to better protect against falling rocks, while the softer sides take impacts when you're falling better. There are various adjustments at the internal liner to ensure a secure fit.
- Hybrid climbing helmet is denser up top to protect from rockfall
- EPP foam liner around sides to take the impact from falls
- Wide ventilation holes amplify airflow
- Soft headband with multiple adjustments to secure the fit
- Four clips attach Petzl's Vizion eye shield or headlamp

- Fit:
- True to size
- Size Bought
- M/L
- Height

Love how adjustable the rear support system is, The helmet is able to tighten down without creating any hot spots or pressure points. Super secure and doesn't shift around as I found while trying on other helmets. This helmet is much lower profile than some of the others I have tried on, which I love. Ended up buying my girlfriend the Borea as she was unhappy with the other options for female helmets being too loose and unsupported.

Great fit
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
I have a large head and this fit well on top of ball cap and snow hat separately. So far just used on one hike but great fit for my big melon.

Light and sooo confortable

This helmet fits perfectly on my head and is really light. It doesn’t feel bulky at all and the adjustment at the back makes it easy to wear an extra layer under or not

This helmet is sturdy as can be and is super light! I barely even notice the weight of it on my head as I'm climbing or belaying. Solid all around!

We all know how serious a head injury is. So make sure you have packed your Boreo with you! Or show a loved one how much you care by making sure they have a boreo in their arsenal!

Love this helmet!
A helmet for any kind of rock climbing is a necessity. This helmet is light, comfy and does fit true to size, would recommend to anyone getting into climbing or are an advanced climber.

Very Happy
I switched to the Boreo after years with an Elios, and I like the fit of this better. It's lighter, it covers the back of my head really well, and seems to sit better on top. It also vents better with the bigger slots. Highly recommended.

It has EPP foam sides and back which is a big improvement over styrofoam. But the hard shell should be thinner and the helmet should weight less than the old standard hard shell helmets. Deal breaker is that Petzl went cheap on the chin strap adjustment -- they sewed it to the side straps so that it can not be adjusted to meet the wearer's neck comfortably. Adjusting the back straps to meet the headband so that the helmet doesn't shift front to back, moves the attached chin strap so that it cuts into the throat or the chin. Most other helmets have a sliding adjustment where the chin strap meets the side straps to prevent this. I'll be waiting for Petzl to correct this (2x $0.25 plastic pieces like on the Sirocco)) or for other mfgs. to use EPP foam.

what size helmet for 21 inch head

Robyn, according to Petzl's sizing chart on their website, a 21 inch circumference head is 53.34 in centimeters and that would put you in the S/M or M/L. Please reference: https://www.petzl.com/US/en/Sport/Helmets/BOREO
