Why We Like The Ooni Koda 2 Max Oven
The Ooni Koda 2 Max Oven is for those of us who struggle to choose between a traditional Neapolitan or pepperoni pizza—or to splurge on a Calabrese or prosciutto, pear, and gorgonzola pie. Ooni's biggest pizza oven lets us cook two 12-inch pizzas, three 10-inch pizzas, or one 20-inch pizza at once with its 24-inch cooking surface and two, independently controlled gas burners that provide even cooking. The Koda runs on either natural gas or propane cylinders, is ready to cook in 30 minutes, and can fire up a pizza in as little as 60 seconds. As much as we love grills and campfires, it's the Ooni Koda that's made us culinary legends at our homes and local campgrounds.

Game Changer
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Been making pizza from scratch for several years now, but this is my first dedicated pizza oven and it’s a total game changer. It heats up and recharges quickly, and it’s very easy to control how much flame you need for the top to cook the way you want it. Our first bake was a success, but the second bake was absolutely phenomenal once I worked out a couple kinks. Easily the best pizza we’ve ever made at home. Having it hooked up to the gas line on our back porch makes it super easy to set up, which means we are more likely to use the oven more often. I built a gas valve tee so both our grill and the oven can stay hooked up to gas, and can be shut off separately. My one complaint has to do with the app/bluetooth signal. You have to be pretty close (within 15’) to the oven or it will disconnect, so I can’t really keep an eye on temps while in the kitchen prepping the next pie. Kind of defeats the purpose of that feature, so I probably won’t use it. Despite this, I still give it 5/5 stars, and we look forward to years of homemade pizza in this oven.

Best pizza oven for your backyard.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Best pizza oven upgrade ever!! I upgraded to the Ooni Koda 2 Max from the Ooni Karu 16 & it was a great decision. I kept the Karu 16 for when I want to use wood however the Koda 2 Max is my go to now for everything. It has such a huge space where I can make very large pies or multiple smaller pies. I highly recommend the Koda 2 Max. Ooni's oven upgrade program is also another great part of Ooni. Keep up the great work Ooni. You have a life long Customer with me.

Unit won’t stay lit
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Both burners will not light while the other is lit. Makes it impossible to use the oven.

Startup Second Burner Starting and Staying Lit
I too am having an issue with getting/keeping the second burner lit—my first thought was not getting enough gas for both burners. However, I am using a full propane tank (per tank gauge) opened all the way. When lighting the second burner showing seeing it’s on then let go of starter I noticed flame goes out—had to turn the burner off—when relighting flame starts again then goes out—(possible safety issue thinking it’s still on). I’ve found the only way to get both lit is to start one burner and turn it down to low then turn on the other burner let it click about 20 times to stay lit. Then slowly increase each burners to high. Is there a thermocouple issue? Thanks! John from Colorado.

Good oven
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Nice oven. Only issue is I can’t clean the stone in the traditional way by heating the oven and burning off the residue. It doesn’t have a front door.

Tricky
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great for Neopolitan however cooking large NY or new haven style it's very tricky. The preheat, timing and recharging for the next pizza is a song and dance. Consistency is a huge challenge. It's not the top for the job, NY, NH needs a longer bake at lower temp. This over can't retain the bheat level.

Not a hot as promised
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The oven is supposed to reach 900deg. After 45 minutes of pre heat and of course following the steps to a “t” I can reach temperatures of about 750deg. Can’t make Neapolitan style pizzas as promised. Just a pricey outdoor oven.
