Air Zoom Terra Kiger 4 Trail Running Shoe

With its lightweight, airy feel, the Nike Men's Air Zoom Terra Kiger 4 Trail Running Shoe might seem like a road running shoe when you first put it on, but make no mistake, this shoe is built to go off-road. The Flymesh upper with a Dynamic fit system and Flywire cables provide the support you need for running over rugged terrain, while still maintaining a lightweight, breathable feel. An EVA midsole with Zoom Air heel and forefoot units cushions your foot across rocky trails and propels you forward. Exaggerated lugs ensure traction through mud, loose dirt, and rock alike, and sticky rubber in the center forefoot enhances grip when the trails are wet.

  • Lightweight support and traction for the trails
  • Flymesh upper is highly breathable, yet supportive
  • Dynamic fit system with Flywire cables lock down foot
  • EVA midsole with Zoom Air for cushion and rebound
  • Lugged sticky rubber outsole for wet surface traction

I've had these for a couple of months and have used them walking around the neighborhood and riding my bike with metal flat pedals. They've been up to the task thus far. They also get some nice compliments on their looks.

Great shoe from what I could tell initially. I could tell there was great grip on it for trail running. However, I ordered a 8.5 and I definitely need a 9. Will reorder and come back to update this review!

Pretty Solid shoe. It has great grip in the mud and solid on the trails. Very light and keeps my feet cool. Really good support in the arch. I would buy this shoe again.

These shoes are super comfortable and have good traction. The only problem (which is a big one) is the sole started coming off soon after using them. It's terribly annoying.

These

That is no good! Feel free to call or email me personally and I can see if I can process a warranty claim for you. Nike stands behind their craftsmanship and that definitely looks defective!

Same thing happened to mine/in same color in same place in a nasty skree field but they were perfect otherwise i got wild horses for my gnarly sky races and run the for less extreme long runs

Best shoe ever

These shoes out of the box are incredible. I regular run rail trails and the tread on the shoe eats up anything the woods has to offer. Up hill, flat or downhill, you don’t feel a thing on your foot. The top however is incredible porous and lightweight and allow your foot to dry very quickly even when quickly submersed. This shoe also handles the road easily so no need for multiple shoes for multiple surfaces. If I was doing more road running than trail running I might prefer to have a second set just for road but no need for what I do. These do run a half size small so make sure you go a half size up (they will not by comfortable if not). Backcountry was amazing with the ordering process and the return I made because I did not by a size bigger.

Literally falling apart

I first go these shoes An I loved them did not have a single complaint but at less then 40 miles on the the rubber is peeling off the bottom an the stitching on the lace loops have broke. Very upsetting

My sole started peeling up after about 10 miles. Nike warranty makes you pay for shipping and no guarantee they will fix them until physically inspected. Pretty lame for overpriced junk. I did like them though.

Same issue. So frustrating because they were great shoes at first.

same about the bottom I'm curious of the color option you have

There is a lot I like about this trail runner. Very light, keeps my feet cool, quite stylish. The down-side from my perspective is around the padding through the sole. I am 6'7", 215 lbs and I feel like the force of my strides wore out the cushioning in the soles much more quickly than other running shoes I've owned. These are not daily runners for me as they seem to need a couple days to recover after a long run compresses the rubber in the soles. I am pretty loyal to Nike and Brooks when it comes to running shoes that perform well for me. I don't think this shoe is going to support the miles that other shoes do for me.

Thanks for the update on the shoes, glad to hear real feedback!

Shoe fits a little wider, which i love. Great grip in the mud, solid on the trails. I am a huge NIKE fan and these fall right into my wheelhouse! Runs true to size in length, little wider than a normal Nike shoe

I'd had my eye on these shoes for a few months after my beloved Pearl Izumi N2s were discontinued and finally got a pair on sale at Christmas. There was an initial break-in period of about 50-70 miles, primarily because the mid-sole is just so hard. After a few early runs, I had sore feet because I wasn't used to how dense the overall mid/outsole combination is. After that initial break in though these shoes have performed magnificently. They've become my go-to long run/race trail shoe. I've run two trail 50ks (TNF Endurance challenge in NY and MA) in these shoes this year, each with over 10,000' of elevation change and couldn't be happier. The outsole is only showing minor signs of wear at 200 miles, and there are no major signs of wear in the upper. When I run in these shoes it feels like I have tanks on my feet––they aren't the lightest shoe, but I can run over any terrain and these shoes just eat it up. I'm easily expecting to get 700 miles out of these bad boys! I haven't run in them in mud very much so I can't speak to their abilities there. Overall I would highly recommend this shoe as a long distance technical trail shoe for training and racing at 50k distances and up. The ride is very comfortable after an initial period to loosen up the midsole.

I'd

FYI, based on your description of these as heavy and tanks and the picture, I believe you actually have the Nike Wildhorse 4.

Although I am not using these for their intended use, trail running, I am using them for an everyday comfy and stylish shoe. They have great support where you would need it; heel, ball of foot, and arch. They a little on the small side, length-wise, but I think that I would have plenty of room for my toes to not bash the front.

Xmas present to myself. Originally ordered size 10 had to re-order 10.5. Customer service was amazing. Made the process super quick and free! Had right shoes within week of original purchase. I've put 300 miles (all trail) on these and I like them. Great on the road .8M to trailhead from my house to the fire-road connector to the technical single-track. Super stable, light, and quick. Very comfy with really zero break in period. Sheds mud well and dries out pretty quick. I would wear these as "everyday" all of the way to JMT with lighter pack weights. Some minor ware on the treads but well within reason. Solid shoe. Thx Backcountry

Believe it or not I have been trying to purchase a pair of these shoes on sale for several seasons now. I am so proud of this purchase cause these shoes are gorgeous and extremely comfortable. They match with a pair of jeans perfectly and have just the right style of loudness for my taste. I hike short distances but I would never wear these shoes cause they are my clean shoes. These shoes should look great and last me a very long time.

I really like the Terra Kiger line. ive been wearing these for a long time and they are always great for wearing on the trail. great traction and comfort. there is enough support to not have to worry about rolling an ankle. Highly recommend for someone looking to grab a pair for casually walking trail.

Runs way too small

Fit:

I ordered these shoes for my vacation but sadly the size is way too small against common sense. I have a bare foot of 23.5 cm which I usually go for US7 without any problem for any brand. When I try on this, my feet were cooped anywhere. From toes to the instep and heel. they are just all wrong. I got nowhere comfort unless I take out the foot bedding pad with no sock on my foot. I ordered in china so there is no way I can return it. Nike should stay consistent with size in common and seems this time they are playing around with it. Really disappointed. But anyhow it is still a good one while with correct size but I am afraid I can’t enjoy this goody.

I really like these shoes and have put a ton of miles in them. Probably my favorite trail shoe I have owned. One minor defect has prevented 5 stars. One section of tread on the inside of the footbed comes loose. I just cut it off and continue to use them... It is still a bit annoying.

Is the heel counter soft (the same flyknit material as the upper) or is it made more rigid with a hard material?
