    Bomb-Proof Pack; Adult-proof zipper

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This pack accompanied me on an adventure to Zion NP over a long weekend. A 14-mile round trip hike to sketch at Kolob Arch tested the comfort and carrying capacity of the Rainshadow. The next day's hike to the Namaste Wall to climb gave me the chance to practice ways of carrying a ukulele (turns out the ice-axe loops work great).

I was impressed with both the volume and packability of the pack as well as the compressability, when it was not full-up. The two straps on each side made it easy to keep the pack's weight close to my back for comfort over the long haul. The front and side stuff pouches were easy to use and provided ample storage space for the smaller items.

I really appreciated the two small zip pockets on the top of the pack; the interior one is lined with a fabric to keep those dainty phone screens safe. The pocket on the exterior was a convenient size for my small sketchpad and headlamp.

My greatest gripe with this otherwise top-notch pack is the top zipper. The corners/general shape of the top of the pack create corners in which the zipper pull can catch/get stuck. I'm eager to see updates to this pack!

Perfect size for long day hikes

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

My only complaint is that it was getting scuffed up on the sandstone when I was canyoneering in southern Utah. Then again, its my own fault, cause it wasn't designed for stemming. VERY comfortable and breathable. Side access would have been nice, so I didn't have to unload my whole pack to get to my beef jerky.

Perfect size for long day hikes

    Great pack.

Took this to Moab last weekend for a climbing trip and loved it. Originally I took it down to just haul some extra gear. But ended up being able to fit more than i thought and used it to haul some of my climbing gear to the the base of my climb. I was able to fit a 70 meter rope, a helmet, a harness, a few cams and QD's, and some snacks on the inside. I stuffed two 32oz water bottles, and a pair of climbing shoes on the outside. I was surprised how well it sat on back for how much i crammed in there. Also i should mention the apporach to my climb was rather steep and i worked up a bit of a sweat. The back of the pack breathed very well.

I would definitely recommenced this pack.

      Nice little pack!

I took this pack down to Zion a couple of weeks ago. I took it on a few day hikes and it worked out really well. I stored a lot of water because I was hauling my mom and sisters water (6 liters of water), had an inflatable tube in the back pocket, sunscreen, glasses, buff, wind layer and some snacks. If you have any questions about this pack or other gear on the site, hit me up (801) 204-4564.

      Nice little pack!
