Why We Like The Crater Lake Half-Zip Top

The Crater Lake Half-Zip Top keeps us protected from the sun's harsh rays when we're out hiking our local trails. Its half-zip design makes it easy to dump heat on uphill sections, and the lightweight design dries in a flash.

Hate the color

It performs pretty well but I got the tan color print and hate the way it looks. The backside of the fabric is light blue which tints the frontside of the fabric, muddling the warm brown with the cool blue and it looks super cheap and weird.

Fantastic sun shirt

I've tried several sun shirts of different brands and majority feel clammy and make me feel hot in the sun. Not this shirt! The material is thin, breathable and very soft on your skin. I actually prefer the quarter zip version over the MH hoody due to the bottom hem design (hoody has a draw string at the bottom which I don't care for). This shirt also has better neck protection for me since I always wear a wide brim hat when I hike and I wouldn't use the hood. And I really appreciate having quarter zip to allow more air through. I'd love to have more solid color options.

Thumbs up

Perfect fit, very light, and quick drying. Great for hanging in the pool with cocktails.

A Florida Must Have

Familiarity:

The crater lake line by MTN Hardwear is perfect for the summer months in Florida when you don’t want to lather on sunscreen all the time but still need to be protected from the sun. The material is so light, it honestly feels cooler wearing the shirt than a tank top. Love this line, the quarter zip is especially nice because it looks pretty sophisticated.

Not as good as I had hoped it would be

The fit and material are great but it was a mistake to order in white. It already looks dingy from one day wearing it hiking - I can’t get it clean looking

Must have shirt for everyone

Absolutely love this product. I bought this for hiking as I've had skin cancer. It is so light weight that I am now also wearing it when riding my mountain bike in the summer. I want 10 more! Please just make more colors. I also love the thumb hole as it keeps the sun off my hands when hiking.

Light Shirt With Warm Collar

Lightweight fabric provides sun protection in hot weather. The higher neckline is good for further sun protection. The only complaint is that the fabric on the higher collar is doubled up (two layers of fabric) so my neck gets too hot. If the collar were just a single layer of the nice light fabric, it would be much more functional. Why put a thick collar on an otherwise very lightweight hot-weather shirt?

Lightweight and soft!

I was very happy with the Crater Lake1/4 zip! I am not a runner nor athlete (anymore) but was looking for something as an everyday lightweight zip-up to wear under vests mainly or when I don't want to wear something bulky under my winter coats. This was perfect. I felt it was "sort of" true to size, more generous if anything (it's not a tight stretch). I bought the Medium: I'm 5'4, 135 lbs, 36C bust. It's not tight at all, falls just nice. I can wear a long sleeve crew neck tee shirt underneath and it still falls well, not tight. But if you're a runner and want something more form fitted, I'd size down. This was a quality piece and I'm getting another one. Just thrilled. (I bought the light grey/soft camo one, and it looks exactly like the pictures).

Perfect for the Arizona summer! Nice shirt!

Lightweight, and works as a cooling shirt when I pour water down my back. I like how it is NOT super fitted... just a little bit loose so it's more comfortable, and more complimentary to a "mature" figure. Have worn (and washed) it around six times so far and it's holding up great.
