R-Sys SLR Wheel System

With the advent of wider tires, it comes as no surprise that the 2015 Mavic R-Sys SLR is wider than the previous version. Additionally, the depth of the rims grew by a few millimeters, sitting at 24mm for the front and 26mm for the rear. The alloy rim itself is the new ISM 4D rim that takes the ISM 3D a step further to shave even more weight. ISM stands for Inter-Spoke Milling, which is the pattern you see between the spokes. In addition to a lighter weight, they use the Exalith 2 brake track, which means faster stopping, even in wet conditions. Mavic build the hoops around aluminum hubs with QRM+ bearings. These are unique in that they are double-sealed and they also allow for preload adjustments without removing them from your bike. A Force Transfer System Light (FTS-L), consisting of two stainless steel plates, is added to the contact area between the hub body and the pawls so that the hub engagement is more substantial. The hubs sync with the rim via carbon fiber Tracomp spokes. While the front uses a radial laced 16 spokes, the rear utilizes a two-cross drive-side pattern of 20 spokes.

Because this is a system of wheels, tires are included. While they have been engineered by Mavic, they are produced by Hutchinson. The duo, the GripLink front and PowerLink rear, are 25mm wide with a rubber compound capable of handling any corner your throw at it.

The Mavic R-Sys SLR Clincher Wheel System comes in Black with Black tires. They weigh approximately 1835g with the included tires and are available with either a Campagnolo- or Shimano/SRAM-compatible freehub body. Included with the wheels are BR601 quick releases, wheelbags, a computer magnet, a bearing adjustment tool, one spoke wrench, a spoke holder for aerodynamic spokes, the Tracomp ring tool, and a user guide.
