Trion Spine 75L Backpack

You're taking your ski touring game to the next level, and like you, the Mammut Trion Spine 75L Backpack is destined for great things. Built with a tech-savvy suspension system, Active Spine Technology allows natural motions of the hips and shoulders without disrupting the load stability of the pack. What this means for you is complete freedom of movement over tricky terrain, all while maneuvering your way over glaciers and across scree with 75 liters of gear on your back.

In addition to plenty of room for all your gear and overnight equipment, the Trion comes with dedicated attachments for ice axes, trekking pole, rope carry, and reinforced side ski carry. A generous front zip opens your pack up fully for easy access when you're in your tent, while assorted pockets on the shoulder and hip straps ensure that small tools of the trade are never far from hand when you're on the go. The back panel features high-density, 2-layer EVA padding for comfortable carry, with padded hip and shoulder straps and an adjustable torso length guaranteeing a perfectly molded fit. The pack is hydration-compatible if you want to equip it with your favorite bladder, and it also includes a zippered side pocket for carrying extra water.

Comfortable

It's handling is actually very comfortable. I would say I wish the inside fabric was a bit more burley.

amazing

12 years in the infantry and this built in spine system is a game changer. Feels like you are hiking with nothing.

Perfect large ski touring pack

Was amazing for skiing with a large weight and high volume. The suspension system makes it really easy to ski with. Has everything I could wish for but pockets for the shovel handle and prob (wish the zip for this compartment was on the outside as well) would add a helmet carry as well if possible.

Excellent expedition pack

I used this pack for a 10-day ski traverse in BC last spring and it was fantastic. I liked that the main compartment was accessible through the front and the top, which made packing and unpacking quite efficient. The exterior material is super durable and didn't give me any problems. I had read some reviews claiming that the internal material was too fragile but I didn't have any issues and I made sure sharp objects had covers to avoid punctures. I found this pack extremely comfortable, despite carrying 70-80lbs while wearing a harness. Can't wait for the next traverse with this pack.

I've used it for years on expeditions. Good for carrying lots of gear, Ropes, Ice axes, skis, crampons, and plenty of room for everything I needed. Adjustable torso length, well padded shoulder and waist straps makes it fit perfect for rough uneven terrain. No pack movement in boulder fields, exposed moves, post holing, or scrambling up talus slopes. The best feature I think is the large front zipper. Don't have to unload everything to get to the stuff at the bottom of the bag. Sorry Backcountry, I bought from Mammut. At the time it was not in stock (March 2019). But you convinced me it was the pack to buy.

Pros: Front U zip pocket is great for getting into it easily. Active spine technology is great, and helps redistribute the load to your hips. Durable fabric outside. Plenty of versatility for climbing ice or rock. Cons: The front zip means spine side in the mud... No bueno. It also does get heavy with a load of cams, other gear and such, depending on what's in it. The water bottle holder is a joke.. Its just another feature to jack up the cost of this bad boy. Come on Mammut.. Don't play. Do it right.

Efficient and comfortable

Great pack for going the distance with a heavy load. I mostly use my Trion 75 for climbing. The combination of the hip suspension and the ease of loading make this pack great for me. The compartment system's are quite useful as well. My only problem would be the lightweight fabric on the inside of the pack seams to tear easily.
