A workhorse of a sleeping bag for cold and wet conditions.
A legend in its own right, Mammut has been refining the design of its Kompakt 3-Season 23 Degree Synthetic Sleeping Bag for going on 25 years. Utilizing Mammut's proprietary MTI Pro synthetic insulation, the Kompakt is highly compressible, offers an excellent weight to insulation ratio, and maintains the major benefit of a synthetic fill bag which is the ability to retain insulating properties when wet. This makes the Kompakt an excellent choice when you plan on backpacking in cold and wet conditions you might find along the Pacific Crest Trail, The North Cascades, or during the rainy season in your home range. The bag itself is fitted with a 3/4-length left side zipper, an adjustable foot area, and an ergonomically shaped footbox to give your feet some wiggle room while you sleep.

- Q & A
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
At first I loved this bag. It was warm and comfy. I used it on a 3 day backpacking trip in a Utah desert. I didn't use the zipper at all during this trip, due to the nights being quite warm. I then took this bag on a one night car camping trip and the zipper disintegrated! It was in the low 40s that night and without a zipper I was cold. There isn't a backup zipper either. I tested the zipper when I first purchased the bag and it worked fine. I thought this was a good brand, but I am very disappointed with my purchase. Quite an expensive purchase for only 4 nights of use.
great bag and great value
Like another review said, this bag gives a lot of bang for the buck. Fit is just right, not too trim not too big so you stay warm and comfortable in it. Great hood, materials are high quality and compression stuff sack comes with it which was an unexpected bonus.
Just a great bag

This is a great bag. I did a lot of shopping around looking for just the right bag and I found it in this one. The weight is not super light but you get a lot for the price you pay. It compresses down nicely and is very warm. I found myself sleeping with the bag open on nights in the 30s in Glacier National Park/northern Montana. I believe that the 23 degree rating is accurate. The loft to the bag is amazing, when putting it into the stuff sack it feels like you are deflating a beach ball, it gain so much air in with the insulation. This is obviously a good thing as all that trapped air helps to keep you warm at night and is no problem to squeeze out in the morning when you are stuffing it away. All in all, this is a well made bag that I would recommend to anyone who is looking for a spring/fall bag. And the color is awesome!
Is the claimed weight correct? 36 oz for the long? Their website says 49.4oz.
