Why We Like The Mammut Ducan BOA Low GTX Hiking Shoe

While some hiking shoes have a sloppy fit, the Mammut Ducan BOAT Low GTX Hiking Shoe snugs down tight for a performance fit. It's anatomically shaped for a sock-like fit that we can literally dial in with a BOA Fit System adapted from the ski boot industry. On the trail, the Ducan is fully waterproof and utilizes a spring-steel midsole to absorb shock and roll our foot into its next step for energy-efficient hiking.

I have tried most other brands and this is my favorite for my foot. I hike three times a week for 5 miles each hike, and I love these.

As I've been getting fatter and older, I've also been getting lazier. First, I moved to Boa snowboard boots cause its kinda a pain in the butt to get your laces undone after a day of chasing pow while riding chairlifts. Then I got Boa mountain bike shoes for the same reason. I hate untying my wet, soggy laces after ripping around the mountain on my E-Bike in Boost mode. I figured this going for a walk in the neighborhood thing would help me shed some pounds to the search for the ultimate walking shoe that was stable for my big body. I tried Saucanys and no. La Sportiva's had a lycra cuff that was a pain in the butt for my foot to go into. THen some NorthFace Boa's that my wife said I looked special as they had the look of being velcro shoes. Then these bad bois came into my life as a last resort. They fit extremely good, solid, supportive, no hot spots and I can do my 2 mile neighborhood loop almost 3 minutes faster in these than I could do em in my Vans slip ons.

Excellent Product

Taiss Light is light weight and solid product. Because the boots are so light I felt great after doing an initial hike down and up the Grandview Trail in the Grand Canyon. The Grandview has some steep sections which are essentially cobble stones to limit erosion. Going down the Taiss was comfortable and steady. Going up, the Taiss floated up and was extremely surefooted. I used to do search and rescue at the Grand Canyon. I wish I had these boots when I worked there. The Ducan Boa is a solid shoe for quick hikes.
