Why We Like The Crag Classic Rope

Among Mammut's arsenal of climbing ropes, the Crag Classic Rope stands out as an inexpensive all-arounder that thrives at the crag whether it's bolted limestone or sandstone splitter. The thicker 9.8mm diameter delivers longer-lasting durability and better handling than it's skinnier counterpart. Mammut added a center mark to quicken rappel rigs.

Long lasting, reliable, great rope

My second purchase of this rope because I’ve loved the quality. Runs smooth and very durable. Holds up well after months of outdoor use. Does not kink as much as some other ropes I’ve tried. Never had any issues with the ends, and loved for trad and sport across the country.

Super strong shell and lots of good dynamic energy. Classic Mammut

I’ve climbed with multiple other rope brands and this feels the nicest and has been the smoothest.

Great rope

Been using and abusing this rope on sport, trad and top rope. Handles great, runs through belay devices smoothly, durable so far, bright color. Even use it for multi pitch. Had a sterling rope before this but happy with the switch for the price this rope was more affordable. Wish I would have spent a little extra and got the dry version to use it for ice climbing but besides that I'm very happy and will be buying another Mammut rope.

Heavy but durable

Good cragging rope, very durable and provides security with soft catches. Heavy while packing in/out but it's to be expected.

Smoothest rope I've ever climbed/belayed with

The sheath on this rope is so unbelievably smooth. I've used this rope at both the NRG and RRG and have had 0 issues.

Best Rope I've Used

I've used dozens of ropes and this is my favorite. A friend of mine purchased it and we have been climbing on it for 6 months. I will be buying my own now.

I have used this outdoors extensively and have had a positive experience with it. Catches seem to be soft.

Great rope.

I've used it in quite a few locations outside and In the gym. It's a great rope. Quite soft and very durable. I've used it out in Joshua tree and it held up very nicely with the fine dust and sharp rock. I would recommend this rope.
