I did some research before buying a boot, because I had upcoming backpacking and hiking trips, and decided upon Lowa because of their long history in boots, and other reviews. I figured Lowa must know what they're doing, and other reviews indicated this boot only really required one wear to be broken in.
I normally wear an 8 in a shoe and bought an 8.5 in this boot (I had heard it's better to have space so your toes don't hit the front when going downhill). I definitely haven't had toes hitting the front, haven't gotten any blisters, but I also wonder if it would be possible/better to have a smaller boot so I don't have to have super thick socks all the time.
I wore these boots on a short hike to break them in... they felt good. Then I took them to Iceland for 9 days of hiking and exploring... they were great. We hiked every day, did some city seeing, went by waterfalls, walked in streams, mud, and in rain/snow/waterfall mist (over an hour)... thought they were completely soaked, but my feet were dry, and the boots dried quickly. My recommendation would be get your true size, and a half size up, and see which is best.
Comfortable, spacious, looks great, very waterproof, no blisters, great grip, lightweight
Laces were so long (kind of annoying that they kept getting tangled in themselves while trying to lace up through all those hooks, and there was plenty extra), perhaps a little too spacious (maybe I should've gotten a smaller size?), feels like I might need another sole for better cushion/support (can't really explain why, but it just feels that way)
