    Whitewater idol.

The Kokatat Women's Idol Gore-Tex Drysuit gives you the versatility of a dry suit and a dry top in one garment thanks to its SwitchZip technology. The Idol separates completely at the waist so you can use it as a full suit or just a top, plus it is much easier to get into that traditional dry suits.

Waterproof and breathable Gore-Tex Pro fabric keeps you dry without making it feel like you're wearing a trash bag, and 330 Cordura Gore-Tex reinforced shoulders, legs, and sleeves ensure the Idol can take a beating and come back for more. Latex gaskets with neoprene punch-through cuffs and collar provide a comfy and secure seal. And just to give you some extra peace of mind, Kokatat fill tests every suit so it's guaranteed to be dry.

A dry suit is a big purchase and not one to be taken lightly. I did some research online looking at other reviews of this particular suit to help me make the decision to pull the plug. I got a few mixed reviews- one stating that the zipper is almost impossible to zip and is more trouble than its worth. While I have found its not as easy as the fly on your jeans the zipper not impossible, just takes some getting used to. That same review mentioned that just wearing the dry top for a long day in a kayak was uncomfortable because the zipper rubs on your back. I have yet to use it in a kayak for an extended period but can speak to the fact that I do like being able to use just the top and separate the pants. This feature also makes it nice for long days on the river (especially in a raft) when you can take the top off but keep the pants on at lunch or on breaks and let the top dry without having the arms dangle. My biggest concern was that the big zipper in the middle, especially the locking system would be uncomfortable while paddling or guiding a raft, but I don't notice it at all. It definitely is not a flattering feature, but I think the ability to separate the top and bottom is by far worth it. I am about 5'3" 125lbs and I have a small- fits well if anything it's a tad big but I don't think I would have wanted a smaller one. Overall I am very happy with the dry suit, it has made paddling the cold Colorado rivers more enjoyable without being freezing all the time, and I wish I had gotten one sooner! Definitely take good care of your gear though, because those gaskets can go quick.
