Why We Like The HOKA Challenger ATR 7 GTX Running Shoe
For that one shoe quiver that can take us from pounding pavement to striding singletrack, we look to the HOKA Challenger ATR 7 GTX Running Shoe. The updated tread provides a smoother ride on road yet still bites on trail, while the hardwearing rubber stands strong against daily use. Now with an increased stack height, this pair mutes the shock of our strikes for an ultra-plush ride. Plus, with a breathable membrane shielding our feet from rain, not even surprise showers can disrupt our flow.

They Don't Hold Up
While new the shoes are comfortable and offer reasonable support, but they don't hold up. I've had two pair and each has only lasted about six months. Both failed in the same way, the adhesive attaching the uppers to the soles starts to fail and the triangular flaps on the sale that form the joint come loose. I used the second pair for some backpacking and noticed that after about a week of carrying a 35# pack -- so the equivalent of a 250# person, the heel seemed to be loosing some of it's shape. For this price, I really expect a pair of shoes to hold up better.

Cheaply Made
25 miles on brand new shoes and the tread lugs at the toe box have already peeled off.

Nice shoe
Great shoe for being on your feet all day but the one huge downfall for me is that the toe box is VERY small. I have pretty thin feet but the toe box is too narrow. Other than that I would say these shoes are awesome. I can't wear them all day because of the toe box but for one shift they are awesome.

They worked good for about a month
I use these shoes everyday, after about a month of wearing they finaly got worn in they started to tear on the gortex lining. It rains often where im from, I bought these shoes thinking I'd be safe, for the first month I was but since they are now tearing this feature is useless. For the amount of money and the poor quality I'm not sure what the hype is about.

Upcoming event on July 6th
I'm absolutely in love with the colors. I purchased these for my husband and I for a family event we're having on July 6th. The gold color in the shoes match perfectly with our shirt. I was a little concerned about purchasing a men's size for myself, but they fit well. Will update later once I've worn them. Thanks Hoka

I wouldn't buy these again
Loved them out of the box. Cushiony / grippy GTX = smaller toe box = little toe grew a 6th toe Also ended up with a hole in the side of one of the shoes at around 300 miles. I got 360 miles on them now. They are barely going to make it to 400. Was hoping for 400-500 out of them.

Solid shoe
Me and my dog average 3 miles a day walking. While I like my Stinson 7s better for walking, these are better choice for the stirrups on my bicycle

Pretty Good but not the Speedgoat
I really like. Light, waterproof, and rugged enough for city or trail. Slightly too narrow and not as cushioned.

I would like to try another style of HOKA

The cushioning does not compare to my Bondi 7's
Frankly, I'm disappointed in these shoes. I bought them because they were rated to have Plush cushioning. However the cushioning is nothing like my Bondi 7's. I've had four pairs of Bondis, and they are great. I wanted these for trailwalking. They have a better tread than the Bondis for trails, but the cushioning doesn't measure up. My knees and back need to cushioning. I've learned that Plush does not always mean Plush.
