- Q & A
A little disappointed.
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
When I'm camping, I gotta have coffee. I'll take instant, french press, pour-over, or even cowboy coffee; but my preferred method is the good ol' percolator. SO I was very excited to pick this up and test it out in the field! However, first impressions left me a little concerned. The construction quality of the pot and it's components is just okay; everything fits together, but very loosely, and the coffee basket inside bounces around quite a bit more than I would like, causing things to come undone pretty easily. Upon brewing, and when pouring, the lid to the basket can come undone, causing ground to leak and spill into the main pot, and then BAM; you might as well just make cowboy coffee. You could probably tweak things a bit and bend some of the parts to hold together a little better; however I found an extremely well made percolator at a thrift store recently that has now become one of my most prized possessions, soooo it's highly unlikely that I'll be keeping this one. It looks great, but just doesn't work as well as I'd like it to.
I have an older colour...
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
But this is the first thing packed, and the first thing unpacked at the campsite! I do love coffee. Easy to use and makes a great brew. TIP: I use a normal coffee filter inside, just to reduce grinds. Fits on top of a rocket stove nicely.
