The new ZenOxide Carbon 88 Ski is the smallest plank in G3's award-winning ZenOxide lineup, but it can still handle its business in everything from springtime corn to wind-affected chunder to variable alpine snow. It also, unsurprisingly, crushes it on the skinner and bootpack, making it the preferred choice for folks who enjoy the adventure on the way up as much as on the way down.
G3's most mountaineering-ready ski, the ZenOxide 88 is also the lightest ski the company offers— at just 2.5lbs per ski, it's six ounces lighter than the ZenOxide 93—but it has the same tough half-cap construction that utilizes ABS/TPU sidewalls to direct power to the edges so you can crush hardpack, chop, and suncaps with style. Just like its big brother, it sports a carbon-fiber cap and two triaxial carbon-fiber laminates that give it the rigidity and stiffness to charge and the lightness to make super-short work of the skin track, so you can tack on lap after lap without working your legs to smithereens. All the carbon is wrapped around a paulownia and poplar wood core that gives the ZenOxide the smooth flex, lively feel, and responsive characteristics to rally down any pitch, and the ski is also outfitted with a Titanal mounting plate for strong and reliable binding installation.
Because the ZenOxide is designed to conquer the variable conditions that come with alpine objectives and distant summits, it features a solid amount of traditional camber underfoot, but still rocks an early-rise tip that lets it cruise over soft snow and chop without getting hung up. The tough steel edges and P-Tex base give it the grit to handle hard alpine snow and the speed to make untouched descents mind-blowingly fun, making the ZenOxide 88 one of the most exciting and versatile ultralight skis on the market.
