Built for stiffness and instant response, the XF features the Retro-Mod highback that has an asymmetric structure following the natural flex of our boot for intuitive response. The Transfer baseplate is lightweight and focused on delivering direct power transfer to help lay down deep carves and maintain control in no-fall situations. Plus, the baseplate is bulked up with an adjustable toe and heel cushion and FooTon pad to absorb harsh impacts and annoying chatter at high speeds.

I rode Flux bindings many years ago and then (though I don't recall why) went down the Union rabbit hole for the last 8 years. But the Union toe straps seriously suck and have driven me to a point where I can no longer ride them. Flux has the best straps in the industry, especially the toe straps. This XF binding perfectly cups your boot and is amazingly comfortable all day long. Definitely a big mountain binding, so pair it with the right board - I put these on a Kazu Kokubo and wow...perfect. The binding is on the stiffer side, but there's enough lateral flex to let you correct your balance when needed. They were really easy to maneuver at slow speeds and crazy good when bombing down the mountain. I get why people feel there's not enough padding underfoot, but I think they are looking in the wrong spot for comfort. The connection these bindings make with the board provides for so much control, I wouldn't like adding more pillowy foam into the mix. I'd personally worry more about having good padding and dampening in your boots. I'm 45 and just took some huge drops with these bindings, generally riding several days each week (yay working from home), sometimes riding all day long...I'm feeling fine and not missing additional foam underfoot a bit. Also, Flux sizing seems better than most for that awkward 10.5 size. Most large bindings are too big for a 10.5 and the mediums seem too small. I went Large on these are they are perfect.
