I bought this for a 2 month trek, mostly because of its streamlined appearance and design, for efficiency and simplicity of use, rigid construction is another plus, I also the natural Matt finish of the fabric, great pack that feels with a timeless design

Won this bag now its the main bag I use, meant to be a winter bag but I've used it for backpacking in chiacgo basin and worked great with the full weight of my gear then straps and modulations of it made it a great day bag to get the 4, 14ers around the area. Matirial is very water proof and extreamly durable but does soak up water. I think it also looks great. Only thigs I would change is to add a watter battle holder on the side but it is supoosed to be a winter bag so makes sense why not. Love the bag and if I lose mine I would pay for one next time.

Actually Almost Perfect
Actually pretty swell! carries well, loads of space but also able to be slim, interesting material, Starting at the material. It is super tough and water wouldn’t dream of going through it. That being said it will hold water. For the lid design, as said in another review if the bag isn’t moderately full there is a gap between the lid and bag that just begs for water to jump into. When water gets in it then sits. Thus the reason for my 3 stars. Thankfully, in this case, Fjallraven doesn’t tape the seams. The lid style used on the ulvo roll top would be perfect! You would then be able to ditch the lid and still have a nicely sealed pack. Just saying I’d pay top dollar for that. The straps and hip belt are definitely for winter as you will sweat in the summer. Perhaps a summer version or pads sold extra to add a mesh would be cool. Other than that the bag rocks. A kind a super durable sack that is comfortable with heavy loads and get loads of compliments. Seems like it is so tough it might speak at my funeral.

close to perfection
I've had the backpack for over a year now and I'm more then happy with. The only complained is the same as Sam W., no hole for a camel-bag "straw". This came as a missive surprise to me while packing for a 2 week hike. The sleeve for the camel-bag is designed so well, with extra hoops to keep it well in place, that I was convinced for a minute that must have missed the hole or that I was to stupid to find it. Would still rate it 10/10 since it can go trough the main opening but still there should be a dictated space for it.

Best Winter Pack
While this pack is fabulous in all seasons- i really love it for winter. great contrast with the snow = great visibility. Strap features on the outer sides allow me to strap on my skis or my snowshoes securely. Easy attachments for gear on the outside and great access on the inside. This pack was with me during a long, wet-heavy snow day and everything inside stayed dry. Plenty of room inside for my roll up sled, extra layers, and avalanche rescue gear. Plus a comfortable fit and INCREDIBLY light!!

I submitted Mt. Kilimanjaro with this pack. It was the perfect size and shape to hike with whatever you needed rain or shine through 5 climate zones every day. I loved the simplicity and ability to carry a load of heavy gear with the removable wooden slats. The one recommendation that I can give is to make it more hydration pack friendly. There is an excellent sleeve for the hydration pack on the inside, but there should be holes for the hydration pack hoses. Without strategic holes, the hoses have to drop in through the top draw-string area, and in doing so, it creates an opening between the top section and the main backpack where water can get right through if it rains. Strategically placed hose holes (one on both sides) would make this pack perfect.

Epic waterproof put to the test
I picked this pack up specifically for winter backcountry travel for the flexibility of being able to swap between snowshoes and skis with great strap options on the outside for skis and snowshoes and waterproof gear storage on the inside. The unexpected bonus is how incredibly durable and lightweight this pack is, not to mention high visibility from afar. I put this pack to the test on Day 1 of Avalanche School when we found ourselves standing in rain and wind for five hours, packs setting in snow (even buried a few times). Getting in and out of the main compartment quickly for rescue gear was essential, as was ensuring I could get it quickly battened up tight again to keep weather out. Pack performed flawlessly- keeping everything dry and accessible. I’ll be adding a coat of repellent spray just for good measure- but this is the perfect pack.
