The Women's performance shoe.
Five Ten's Blackwing Women's Climbing Shoe blends an aggressive profile with a tough-as-nails design that's well-suited for both sport climbing and bouldering. Thanks to a formed heel cup, the Blackwing has an extra snug fit, and its rugged Stealth HF rubber offers maximum friction on overhanging problems and routes. Don't sweat it if your project takes a few tries; a microfiber lining delivers plenty of moisture management as well as a comfortable, fleecy feel when you're hanging off a jug-haul 40 feet up.

Great shoe, little tough to size
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
I bought these for my wife as she wanted a more aggressive shoe as we started lead climbing. The rubber is super sticky, the velcro straps are easy and keep her foot secure...all great things, and a definite upgrade from her Butoras that she started with.
She was tough to size out though. Her normal street shoe is between 7.0 and 7.5 depending on manufacturer, and we tried several sizes before we found one that's mostly correct. We started with a 7.5 that was too small, then went to an 8.0. That fit better, but she felt too much pain right in her toes...not the normal discomfort you find while breaking in new shoes, but pain bad enough to just bail on climbs because the shoes had to come off. So we went to an 8.5, which is 1 to 1.5 sizes LARGER than her street shoe, and that seemed to help things. The issue is now parts of the shoe feel a little big maybe, but her toes aren't dying anymore.
As she climbs more in them (they're still brand new) I'm sure we'll figure out the exact true size, and I'll try to remember to update this review. I know shoe manufacturers all make their shoes differently, and sometimes you just don't fit right in a certain manufacturer, and maybe that's her issue with fiveten. But I can tell you that the quality of the shoe is fantastic, and if you can get the size and fit right, it's awesome.

- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
- Fit: Runs small
- Height: 5'3"
Great aggressive shoe. If you have long, but thin/narrow feet, be aware that you may have super long velcro straps hanging off your feet. Even so, the rubber is incredibly grippy & the shoe still fits well.
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
- Fit: True to size
- Size Bought: 9.0
- Height: 5'8"
- Weight: 135lbs
If you live to be hangin' like a bat in a cave, this shoe is for you. It's toe is turned down hard, so you won't loose your toeing, even if all you've got to move off of is a tiny jib.
It's heal is fully covered in rubber, so you can twist and turn on your heel hooks, and they will not slid off.
Also, these have 5.10's stellar Stealth Rubber, so friction will be 100% on your side. Also, from my experience, Stealth rubber also doesn't get polished over time. So, you're solid on your feet, until you blow through the rubber completely.
For sizing, go with your street size, or maybe even half a size up.
I only did four stars, because the heel box is wider than most other climbing shoes. This is great for some people, but won't work for everyone. Make sure the heel works for you, and your foot doesn't slide up when you're trying to heel-hook, before sticking with these shoes.
Are the sizes for this shoe the same as other five ten shoes, or are they women's sizes? I am a male and I am wondering if I order these should I order them larger than I would other five ten shoes, or the same size?
