Functional, comfortable, and durable

I've had this day pack for over 2 years now and I use it nearly every weekend. It's the perfect size for long day hikes. I can fit all the essentials in this comfortable pack including a 3L water bladder. It has enough pockets for those things that require fast accessibility. This pack checks the box for lightness while maintaining enough capacity to carry all the crucial items you'll need.

Incredibly comfortable, great pack

I am so happy with this pack! Love it more than I thought I would. I compared it with several others including Osprey Daylite Plus and this pack looks, feels, and functions so much better! The comfort of this pack is what ultimately sold me, I just could not find another pack that felt so good. What makes it so comfortable is how lightweight it is, the straps, and the v-shaped design; it carries the load so well I barely notice it. Zippers are great, side mesh pockets do hold bottles better than I thought they would (when pack is pretty empty, the pockets will seem loose; once full, they?re good). I even love the front stuff pocket...thought I?d prefer a bigger stretchy mesh pocket, but this design works for me as I stuff snacks, a pack of wipes, and other small items in there. Lastly, I really like the simple, sleek aesthetic. I use this pack hiking, and as an everyday pack for my stuff and my 2 young kids? stuff. With use of packing cubes, the small valuables zip pocket, and front stuff pocket, it totally works. I was worried about sacrificing organization, but the comfort could not be beat or ignored! So glad I went with this pack. I?m female, 5?4? and approx 17? torso.

Previous version was MUCH better
I was about to buy a second SpeedLite 20 since my original one has served me so well for the past 4 years, but Deuter has eliminated some of the features that made the previous version so durable and useful. The previous version had 2 upper and 2 lower compression straps- these offered a very useful way to provide extra security to large water bottles, and to strap on picnic blankets etc. Unfortunately the new version only has the upper straps, the straps are more narrow, and there is no abrasion-resistant flap reinforcing the compression strap attachment points. Samples I have seen in store feel much more sloppily sewn and the fabric feels cheaper. I’ll keep using my original Speed Lite 20 because it’s the perfect size, has no superfluous features, is very durably constructed with great zippers, materials etc, and I can easily strap a picnic blanket and my kid’s fishing pole on for a day at the river. I’ll look elsewhere for a replacement when the time comes. as someone who appreciates truly durable gear, the decline in quality almost across the board in outdoor gear is a big bummer. Charge more per product and keep quality high! This is better for consumers, better for the planet, and better for your business. Please don’t become another empty Brand, Deuter!

Amazing backpack !
I bought this backpack because I need a "small" 20L for my daily use (office, commuting, everyday carry) and ULTRA LIGHT. I also need a backpack with a detachable hip belt. The Front pocket fits perfectly a water bottle Camelback Chute 1L. The ventilated 3D-AirMesh do it's work when I'm riding my bike. You can carry your MacBook Air 13 inside. One more personal opinion, this new 2018 line and color is (so) much classy and sober than the old line... The black version is suitable even with a suit at work. Well recommended !

Is there a way to replair/replace the main compartment zipper? I have two of these packs, both in good shape other than the zipper is broken.
