    Inspire adventure.

Unsurpassed craftsmanship, attention to detail, and superior materials are what make a Danner boot a Danner boot. The Women's Mountain Light Boot uses that ultimate quality to pay homage to the iconic hiking boot styles that Danner designed in the early 1970s, and it's made in Portland, Oregon to ensure the utmost in quality.

There are, however, a few modern upgrades that you'll no doubt appreciate. The boot starts out with an incredibly durable one-piece leather upper, lined with a Dri-Lex waterproof liner for the ultimate in extreme-weather protection. The speed hook laces ensure you can get a good, snug fit, even with gloves on or cold hands. The full-length fiberglass shank creates an supportive platform that is plenty stable for you to carry heavy backpack loads, especially if you're planning to be out for multiple days on end. The Vibram Kletterlift outsole offers incredible shock absorption and traction on the toughest terrain.

    Great Boots

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

Got these for my wife and she loves them. Great fit, very durable, and pretty stylish. The breathability is great, and the traction keeps her feet stuck to the trail when needed. A bit bulky, but that's what we were looking for. Great stuff!

    Wasn’t sure at first

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

After doing a bit of research on these boots I was sure they were the ones. After reading the reviews on sizing I wasn’t quite sure which size to order. I am an 8.5 usually but sometimes a 9 so I figured the 8.5 would be perfect! These shoes definitely run large. I ended up exchanging them for an 8. Now they fit perfect! I wore them up to Mt. Rainier last weekend and they were very supportive, and the tread is wonderful. I took them through the snow and they kept my feet warm and dry. I did notice the same problem others talked about, the did seem to rub on the back of my ankles a bit and feel quite uncomfortable but after an hour or so they had already felt like they were loosening up and molding to my feet. Like any leather boots they take a while to break in (moleskin will be your bff at first) but I would recommend!

    girlfriend loves it

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

this is the second pair my girlfriend has had in a few years and she loves how comfy they are and how durable they are hiking here in the northwest. she cant wait to break them in while backpacking

    Only go Danner!

My wife was searching for good hiking boots for years and we finally did we went danner and I don’t think we can ever go back!! Amazing comfort, light weight, they mold to your foot, and the style is classic!! So happy we finally did it!! Worth the investment.

      Awesome pair of women's boots

      • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

The Vibram sole offers good traction. These boots offer plenty of support. They are recraftable (Danner will resole them for you instead of making you buy a whole new pair of boots). And most importantly, they are super cute.

Personally, I prefer buying an expensive pair of boots that will last you a lifetime instead of choosing cheaper boots and having to buy a new pair every few years.

If it's good enough for Reese Witherspoon, it's good enough for my wife.

      Awesome pair of women's boots

      Very Best Boots

THESE BOOTS ARE SO COMFORTABLE> like seriously SO SO comfortable. They mold to your feet. You can wear them anywhere but are amazing on hikes. I use them for everything. I have had them for 3 years now and seriously the quality has held up amazing!! Best boots I have owned!

      Worth It!

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: Runs large
      • Size Bought: 7.5
      • Height: 5'8"
      • Weight: 135lbs

I did my research before investing in these, and they are definitely a new favorite!

I did, as other reviewers mention, size down from my usual 8 to a 7.5. This was the right call as they fit great. A gearhead actually called me the evening of my purchase to ask about my fit/sizing, etc., which was awesome. It's hard to find that kind of customer service.

Anyway, I recommend thick, tall socks til they're broken in. They will, otherwise, wear your heels raw. Mine are broken in after a week's worth of daily 5-mile hikes.

I'm super happy with my purchase, and with Backcountry's customer service. Highly reccommend, all around.

      OG Hiking Boots

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: 8
      • Height: 5'8"
      • Weight: 160lbs

I've wanted this particular pair of Danners for years and when I forgot to throw my hiking boots into my things during a cross country move, it was the perfect opportunity to snag the pair that I've always wanted. I've been on two moderate hikes with these boots and true to most leather boots, they are definitely going to need to be broken in. I recommend wearing pretty thick socks, because I wore moderately thick cotton socks and my ankles are torn apart after the first hike. I can't wait to take these boots on my hikes!

      Classic

      • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
      • Fit: Runs large

Classic looks, with modern functionality. Who could ask for more?! The total leather construction on these boots ensures a personalized fit after a break in period, as well as being waterproof. The sole on the Portland is nice and rugged too. These are surprisingly lightweight despite their burly construction, I'd recommend these boots to any lady looking for a serious backpacking boot, willing to put up with an adjustment period but wanting that classic look.
I'd recommend sizing down one size as well.

      A gift from the heavens

      • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
      • Fit: True to size

I gave this gift to a hiking friend of mine. She loves them so much and I have to admit they look really stellar. She says they are a little hard to break them in but after that, comfortable and solid. Would gift again.

      Love them!

      • Size Bought: Size 10

Bought these on early winter, wore them from Seattle, across Colorado, New Mexico and California almost every day. Break in was fast but they were a bit stiff at first, to be expected with leather, I wear them as every day boots, to work and on hikes, all around boots that are great. I'll be keeping these until they need a rebuild and then may even get another pair! I have a fairly large bunion on my left foot and are fairly comfortable around it compared to most other boots I've owned

      Love them!

      PNW for the win

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: Runs large

I picked these boots mainly because of their great look and great reputation for being handcrafted in the USA and having a lifetime worth of use in them. Danner will recraft any part of the boot, meaning they will essentially last forever. And with the classic styling, I want them to. I am a pretty solid 10.5 shoe size, but as these are only available in a 10 or 11, I went with the 10. The first time I wore them, the back of the ankle rubbed me raw. I looked up techniques for softening leather boots and discovered that I could saturate them in water and wear them until they were dry and it would help stretch them out. I did exactly that which made for a rough day, but by the time they were dry, I massaged in some leather conditioner and haven't had a problem since. I can lace them tighter and have more than enough room in the footbed. There's not a ton of cushioning inside the shoe, but you don't miss it at all with the Vibram sole which absorbs impact like nobody's business. They have a little bit of weight to them which I actually like. You can buy the flat laces in additional colors so if the red is a little too much too often, there are options to mix it up! Overall, I love these boots and would buy them again... but I'm glad I don't have to!

      Awesome boots!

      • Size Bought: 6.5
      • Height: 5'6"
      • Weight: 135lbs

I bought these boots as a hiking shoe but also to wear casually and get compliments everywhere I go. The leather is supple and comfortable but the boots have the stiffness for long hikes as well. Have taken on several long hikes to break in and they are now perfect. Seem to run a bit big. I usually am a 7 and went with a 6.5

      Awesome boots!

      Breaking 'Em In

Love, love, love these boots! After looking at the 8.5s for a while, I'm happy I opted for 9s. Seems like they run true to size. It will take a few long hikes to break them in, but the goings good so far.

Bought these for my girlfriend for Christmas, and they are very heavy duty and come with heel inserts. They run a little big, but the laces keep them on tight. She hasn't used them for hiking yet, but they've done well in the snow also.
