Lightweight and warm, in moderate winter

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: small
    • Height: 5'5"
    • Weight: 130lbs

Very happy with this. For size reference: I'm 5'5", ~125-130 lbs. I am size 2 in jeans, generally a small in tops. I got this in a small. I would love the body/ waist to be more fitted, more for warmth than for style, but it's ok. I have a more athletic build, so small waist and hips. There's a lot of empty space in there, which counteracts its warming properties in certain conditions, since it's very light weight and relies on the reflective layer for warmth. I love thumb holes in general. These are actually a tiny bit short. When I don't have them on, the sleeves feel perfect length, and the outer sleeve length is fine. It's like the cuff or thumb cuff part was sewn in just a tiny bit short, so it pulls when I extend my arms out in front of me. But, it's ok. I still use the thumb holes much of the time. I love love love the deep rust color. The fabric has a subtle check or plaid sort of texture to it that makes it extra nice. For warmth: I think if you're moving around at all, even walking, this will keep you pretty to very comfortable in lots of conditions. I wore it around Denver for a day of errands, so I was walking and going in and out of buildings, when it was about 15 degrees, and I stayed surprisingly toasty, with just a medium-weight base layer top underneath. I was more toasty when I got in my very cold car than I am in other, heavier coats. It's fantastic in the 30-50 degree range, especially, and supremely comfortable with one, nice base layer. It's insta-toasty after a long, cold winter trail run, when I can feel chilled to the bone for an hour or two. This jacket is too long to run in, but I imagine an omni-heat jacket or vest for cold weather active wear would be marvelous. I did wear it just standing outside one evening in about 30-35 degrees, and I got very cold, in maybe 30 minutes (wearing 2 pairs of pants and socks and only a sweater on top). But, I get cold easily. Denver temps can easily range from about 20-60 degrees in a day, and I commute by public transport, so I got it for those ranges. I think it's actually more effective against cold when I don't have too many layers or much bulk underneath, again, since it's the reflection that makes it warm. It will keep me pretty warm in the morning when it's 20, but is also light to carry or wear when it's 60, and it folds up small. I do wish it were more fitted when it's 20. Also, the hood design looks nice and sleek, but it's a large hood (which I like) and doesn't have any way to cinch it down, so it's not good in wind. It blows off easily. That was a design mistake, IMO, but you do feel the heat right away when you put the hood on. The neck comes up high when zipped, which is good. If I wear a scarf and a hat underneath, that helps it stay in place, or putting a scarf around your neck on the outside would help. I love this omni-heat technology and just ordered a vest with it.

    perfect fit

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Extra Large
    • Height: 5'11"

Bought this as a gift, she loves it! She is very tall, and the cut is perfect for her. She likes how thin it is, but that it still is a good winter coat. The color is true to the picture, which I was a little worried about.

    Thin but Warm

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium
    • Height: 5'4"
    • Weight: 110lbs

I bought this for a friend and she loves it! Its pretty thin so I didn't think it would be warm enough but the omni-heat keeps her at the perfect temperature. It's true to size also.

    Perfect for Backpacking

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: Medium

Before taking a trip to Peru and Bolivia this past August (their winter) I stressed over what I was going to pack. From everything I read the weather was going to range from 20s to 70s farenheit and i was backpacking. Im notorious for overpacking on even an overnight trip and I had no idea how I was going to pack light enough to lug a backpack all over South America for 2 weeks. My biggest challenge was finding a coat that was going to be very warm in the extreme cold but lightweight and easy to stuff in my backpack if it got too warm to wear it. I bought 2 or 3 others online and returned them before coming across this one. The others were too heavy, too bulky, not long enough etc. This one is perfection and one of the best things to ever happen to me. It functioned as my main outer layer and also made a great rainjacket. It really was everything i needed rolled into one. I still had to wear a couple of layers underneath in the coldest temperatures but that was expected. I finally achieved the art of layering and packing light with this coat. Also happy with my color choice, the navy blue is very versatile and went with everything i packed. My only complaint, if you can call it that, is that the hood doesnt stay on your head when the wind is blowing so its best to wear another hat underneath. But still, im extremely in love with this coat! Ive currently been wearing it through a Louisiana winter (40s at the coldest usually) and it seems to be much warmer than my heavy coats even without any other layers underneath.
As far as the fit goes, im usually a medium in juniors but a small in adult sizes. i ordered the medium thinking it would be a little loose and allow me to wear thick sweaters underneath but when i first tried it on I was afraid it was going to be too tight bc it was pretty fitted and on the smaller side. However, I was still able to layer as planned and found the fit pretty flattering and glad that i stuck with the medium. 5 stars!

Nice coat but definitely for fall

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

Coat is super thin, definitely for fall type of weather (I was looking for something warmer for winter).

I have longer arms with being taller and a smaller petite frame which makes it hard for me to find coats that are long enough in the sleeves - this coat was the perfect length.

One downfall was the pockets were oddly placed, they seemed so close together.

I also bought the heavenly hooded long, which is thicker than this coat - which I would recommend if you are looking for something warmer.

    The Best Coat I Own

Talk about perfect in all ways, this coat does it. Lightweight, super warm, sharp looking and love the extras. The most perfect XS item I have bought in a long time. You will love this coat.

Perfect for work in ski town

    • Size Bought: medium

Bought this jacket for work in Park City. I am in and out of the office and up and down the canyon in all kinds of weather. It kept me warm and dry. Love everything about it except for the sleeve design. It has a little bit of a bell shape to it when worn since it is not tapered. But, all in all, the jacket has great functionality. The cut gives you room to move and pick things up, not just stand and look pretty, but the long shape makes it work formal and functional.

    Good fit, worried about warmth

I really liked the color and fit of this jacket but was looking for something warmer in a long jacket otherwise would have kept it.

    Love this jacket

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: xs
    • Height: 5'4"

This jacket is surprisingly warm for how light it is and looks and feels great. I've been wearing it almost every day and would say it's perfect but the only downside is the zipper is kind of hard to get started. I still love it and recommend it!

I live and work in Seattle and commute by public transit, so I'm spending a lot of my commute time outside. I received this jacket in purple dahlia for Christmas and let me tell you: this jacket is a godsend! It keeps me warm during freezing weather and the Seattle rain. The Omni-Heat is my savior--I've made due with wearing a blouse or long sleeved shirt and have kept warm during my commute. I'm petite, so the long jacket is beneficial for me in keeping my thighs and even my knees warm. My favorite feature of this jacket is how lightweight it is, which is a plus while I'm commuting around the city. I would highly recommend this jacket!

    Versatile and warm

    • Size Bought: Medium
    • Height: 5'5"

I love this long jacket that is great over long tunics or dressy wear or even jeans. It can unzip from the bottom for comfortable driving and it stuffs away easily, since it is so lightweight. But that doesn't mean it is short on warmth; it is amazingly toasty. I love the interior pocket and the hood. My only complaint is the white embroidery advertising the brand and features, but I always make that stuff disappear with a black laundry marker. Honestly, if people like my coat, I'll happily tell them where I got it, so no need to make me advertise with branding in white letters! It's a tiny bit snug in the hips, but I blame the holidays!

I was at store that sold this jacket, I tried it on and knew I wanted it, when I looked at the price I put it back , there was no way . I found this website later that week because I just had to find a cheaper coat , I seen it on this website and it was way cheaper than buying in store, I got it and immediately was so happy with it, it is a very light jacket but warm!!! Deffinalty recommend

    Sadly, I am returning...

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: Small
    • Height: 5'2"
    • Weight: 115lbs

This is a very nice, very lightweight, and seemingly cozy coat. However, the color is not at all what I expected. It is called Tradewind Grey, but is more reminiscent of Dolphin Blue. Also, I am 5'2", 115lbs, and ordered a Small. The bottom half of the coat fit well, with optimal room for movement and sitting, but the top was too large. The shoulders were too wide, and the underarms too ample, which resulted in uncomfortable bunchiness. Sadly, I am returning this lovely coat.

    Warm yet light weight

    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Large

This is a nice coat. The length covers enough of my body to keep out the wind. It is insulated so it keeps the warmth inside yet it isn't bulky.

    Favorite jacket

The length is very good, it keeps the coastal wind gusts out. It is lightweight and comfy. I own two of them (M) in different colors. The zipper in the older one gives out, that's somewhat dissapointing but it's true, that have been wearing it a lot. It washes conveniently in the washing machine.

      Love the weight

I got this jacket as an addition to another lightweight longer coat that doesn't have a hood. I really wanted a hood! The weight, color (mineshaft) and style of the coat are wonderful. It is an Trim cut though, and if I hadn't sized up it would be too tight across my hips and chest. Even a size up its tighter than I'd really like across my hips. My similar coat does fit better.

      Beautiful jacket but....

      Another

Another Columbia jacket that is cut disproportionately large on top and small on the bottom. I am evenly proportioned so I guess this manufacturer 's coats are not a fit for my body shape. I do think a very broad shouldered, larger chested woman with slim hips and legs would find this coat very flattering to wear.

      Obsessed with this coat.

I searched high and low for a winter jacket. I wanted something warm and not super bulky. This is it! I get lots of compliments on it and its keeping me very warm through our cold Michigan winter. I work at a car dealership so I'm inside and out a lot. This jacket is perfect. Buy it.

      Runs large

      • Fit: Runs large

The picture makes this jacket look more slim fitting than it is. My normal jacket size is an XS which I ordered in this coat as well but sadly it fit more like a medium on me. Aside from the sizing It has two zip pockets that are good depth and an inside zip breast pocket which could easily hold a small wallet or phone and there is no waist band.

Does anyone have a suggestion of a synthetic insulated park that IS as warm as a 600 or 700 fill down coat?
