Can you smell what the Rainier is cooking? (hint: it's bacon)

The Camp Chef Rainier Camper Griddle/Grill/Stove Combo lets you stew up a pot of steaming, hot deliciousness on one side of your stove while you grill up some tasty, flavor-popping morsels on the other. And even though it's portable enough to fit in your car or canoe, the included non-stick griddle means that your all-time favorite lumberjack breakfast (three eggs, three bacon strips, three sausages, three hotcakes) is always on the menu.
    • Three-sided windscreen helps conserve fuel and reduces cook time
    • Burly burner cranks out 10,000 BTUs of power, and the grill delivers an impressive 8,000 BTUs
    • Stainless steel drip tray makes for easy cleanup and grease removal
    • Non-stick aluminum grill and griddle relinquish your fully cooked meal without a fuss
    • Matchless ignition means that you won't singe off your knuckle hair trying to light this puppy
    • Handy dandy carry bag is included; your favorite hickory-smoked, thick-cut bacon, unfortunately, is not

    Awesome Product. Great Price.

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Pleased with how easy it was to use out of the box. The only reason it is not getting 5 stars is I wish the grill and griddle had a way to latch into the stove itself. When cooking it likes to warp and does not sit in the provided slots very well.

    5 Starts All Around

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

My wife and I go car camping quite often and this is a perfect Camp Chef to have. It's also the perfect size for BBQ's at the park and tailgating at the football games. East clean up and quick to set up and put away.

Just received my my Rainier Camper (Combo) Stove today. The stove seem to be well built. The carry bag could use another pocket to store accessories such as the flexible regulator kit(MS-121) and the spare griddle/grill when not in use, etc. Will do another review once I have put some cooking time on the stove... Thanks to Alex W. the service was great, the exchange and shipping....

      Solidly built

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Who doesn't want coffee and bacon when camping? I mean sure you could get the percolator going and then heat up the griddle...but then you'd have cold coffee and hot bacon; that's a party foul. With this stove I get both.

I agree with other reviews, not having a place for the extra grill/griddle is a drag. I am sure eventually I'll lose one of them...or just leave it home.

      Great Product

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

This requires virtually zero assembly out of the box - basically plug and play. It's pretty light weight for what it is. The one downfall is there's no good place to put the second grill top - the bag doesn't have a spare pocket, and I couldn't get the whole thing to close with both inside. Otherwise a great choice!

      Perfect for car camping

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Camp Chef puts out a great product, and this is no exception. The stainless steel drip tray is clutch when using the grill and things get a little messy. I was super impressed by how hot the burners were and how fast I got my coffee in the morning! This is definitely a luxury I would not go without.

      Can't Beat the Price

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

For the price, can't beat it. Folds up nicely and magnetic wind guards worked well. The lighter worked sporadically so bring your own lighter just in case it doesn't light up.

      Tested Well

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I haven't had a chance to take this out yet but I gave it a test and I'm happy with the expected performance. Feels sturdy enough to me...

Great stove for the car camping!

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

This stove is superb for car camping! It enabled so many different options with the included grill and griddle. Handled salmon nicely as well as eggs, bacon and pancakes. It's easy to set up, easy to clean and stores away into it's own bag that it comes with.

I do have 2 complaints though. The first is the bag has no place to store the extra griddle/grill that isn't on the stove. It's kind of frustrating without the storage in the bag because it does bend the inserts slightly.

Secondly, even though I followed the recommendations of heating up the grill slowly and waiting for it to fully cool before removing it, it still warped on the very first use! It's not that it won't fit into the inserts to cook with now, it's just really unhelpful with storage because it will not lay flat.

Because of those 2 frustrations, I really only feel like I can give this stove a 4 star rating at best.

Great stove for the car camping!

      Great Car Camping Stove.

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Got this because I liked the idea of a grill/griddle and stove option. Comes with a nice FREE bag. Yes that bag is not the greatest but it does the job. BTUs are fine and the igniter works most of the time. I have owned this for 2 years now and still love it. I really like how the lid and the sides keep the wind away. So far the plastic on the regulator's brass pipe to the fuel bottle and one of the pop rivets broke. Not to worry, Champ Chef warranty department hooked me up right away. They shipped me replacements almost instantly. Yes you do need to clean it at least once a year. I use simple green and dish soap to get rid of all the built up grease. I recommend this stove and would buy it again.

      A car camper's dream.

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This stove comes with me on nearly every adventure. I have a lot more options as far as meals go thanks to the different burners. It's light and sturdy.

      People don't know

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This thing rocks. Super easy to use cooks burgers just as good as your grill at home. Yes it is a little flimsy but its for traveling. I don't think they were trying to build a 100lb grill. Beware of grease build up on the skillet.

Why didn't I read the reviews?

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Now that I have used the stove a few times, I can say that the build quality is lacking. Yes, the bag is crap. No storage pocket for the griddle leads to scratches. The legs of the griddle are hard to maneuver and the overall build of the components is flimsy.

Keep looking - there's better stuff out there.

I have had this product for only 1 year now, and used it about 4 times in total.

That is all it took for the extremely cheaply made 'carry bag' to rip in 4 spots. The handles came off there are 2 holes in the material. it is the cheap 'throw away' bag material you might see in disposable bags from a convention souvenier shop.

When it arrived the legs on the grill were bent so those had to be straightened out and the legs on the griddle are held in place with poorly assembled pop rivets. One of the legs came off already so now use a tent stake to keep the griddle level. Also, some coating is now coming off the bottom of the aluminum grill. Not sure if it is just oxidation, but with how large the pieces are it apears to be some type of coating that is flaking off.

The electronic starter workes about 1 out of every 10 tries now.

The stove does give off a LOT of heat and makes coffee pretty quickly but I would shop around if you want something that will last.

        Good Overall

Purchased this to replace a 26 year old Coleman stove. It does the job, has an easy set up and ignition system. The griddle plate is perfect for cooking eggs breakfast for the family, while brewing coffee on the burner plate. Clean up was quick and easy. On the down side, as others have mentioned, the bag and general construction leave much to be desired. The bag should be better quality and have a protective pouch/sleeve for the griddle plate or grill gate. Without this the piece not actually on the stove will scratch the lid. The stove itself seems as if it is made from flimsy material. While it gets the job done, I'm not sure it will last as long as my trustee family heirloom Coleman.

          Nice grill

Got this grill to use camping and to use on my balcony since there's not much room out there. I love it so far. I have used it about 5 times to cook different things and it handles everything like a champ. I was cleaning it last night and some of the finish started coming off, so be careful with this. Overall great purchase and I am happy with the product.

            Great heat, questionable construction

            • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

This stove made cooking at camp so easy. It produced good heat at medium to high levels. The setup was easy. The only issue I had was the connection from the propane bottle to the stove. It worked fine, but it seemed to put too much unnecessary torque on the connection piece, the way the bottle weight rests on it at a 45 degree angle.
