Commuting on a bike has benefits (health, environmental, riding a bike) and drawbacks (safety issues, inclement weather, hills). While we believe the good outweigh the bad, we also recognize that the bicycle's lack of natural cargo space can be a serious deterrent to both aspiring and veteran commuters. Enter Blackburn with their Central Saddle Bags.

These bags are made of 600 denier polyester, which means that it is stronger and more durable than a similar fabric with a lower denier rating. Blackburn has opted for a two-tone material across its Central line to offer commuters an alternative aesthetic. The fabric is given a water resistant treatment, but the bags also include a stowable rain cover for additional protection.

The interior boasts a healthy capacity of 1585.62 cubic inches (26 liters), which is populated by a padded laptop/tablet sleeve and a family of pockets for organization. Blackburn has also thoughtfully included a padded exterior pocket for your personal effects — a feature that any cyclist who has orphaned a wallet during a commute or lost a smartphone to the asphalt will immediately appreciate. This pocket can also hold your sunglasses (while in class or the office) and your eyeglasses (while on the road).

The Central Saddle Bags are compatible with any standard bike rack, but mating them to Blackburn's own Interlock rack system adds additional security by means of a keyed lock and specially designed compression straps and stainless zipper pulls. After dismounting, the bags can be carried by a handle or a shoulder strap, the latter of which can be restrained by magnetic clasps while you're riding.
