Works well

I’ve used this once. The light output is decent; however I was expecting more illumination as it was advertised for nighttime climbing. I would like to see a stronger intensity light for finding holds, bolts and features that are further away for route finding. The back battery pack is fairly heavy while the front bulbs are light. This makes for an imbalanced feeling. Adjusting intensity is easy enough. The battery life is short. The clamps to open the battery cover seem weak. I can’t speak for its robustness or longevity.

Perfect for night ops!

Bought these for my wildland fire crew! Perfect for when we need a nice widespread field of view but also need the focused beam for hiking a trail that may not be so obviously marked.

Love the wide angle

I have used this headlamp multiple times. Night climbing in the Gunks was pretty awesome. Gave me a very wide field of vision for climbing. It feels very balanced while wearing and works with a helmet well. Easy to change out the battery and love that you can use the battery pack and regular AA batteries. It my go to lamp for outdoor adventures and battery life has been great. I've used to climbing, hiking & splitboarding.

I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I just want a rechargeable headlamp that can also take regular batteries for convenience/emergencies/offgrid. I also like having battery back in back for comfort. So this gets pretty close but ultimately just frustrating. Rechargeable battery does not come with it; i bought the separate battery but it does not fit; it does say 1800 which was out of stock, but I got a 1500 but for some stupid stupid reason there is a battery contour strip which makes the 1500 not fit. Additionally, there is no charging port on the rechargeable battery; apparently I would need an external charger. Only sport this is excelled in was an exercise in frustration. One thing I DON'T love dealing with: half of my gear list being the friggin headlamp components. Get it together, BD.

Great light that dims

Glad to have a headlamp with a dimmer. I've noticed that the batteries have lasted longer and I expect it's due to the dimmer functionality. I enjoy the flood light capability on my morning walks too

Great light!

Fits great on the captain and the half dome helmets. Easy to use, top button turns it and and 2 finger side tap to change settings. I'm not sure just how long the battery lasts but It last all through the night at least. It comes with triple a batteries but also can take the bd rechargeable pack. That's a good feature for the SAR missions I bought it to use on because you can't always charge it but you can always carry more batteries. It you are considering it, get it.

Missing one feature

This is one of the few BD head lamps without the red light. This missing feature takes away one star from this review. Otherwise, a really nice light.
