Sequential cruxes demand perfection. Your fingertips have to be perfectly aligned if they're going to grip the hold, in the same way that the Black Diamond Men's Focus Climbing Shoe's rubber needs to be perfectly aligned along the microscopic edge if you want to stay standing. Black Diamond designed this aggressive shoe for this kind of perfect precision, with a slight downturn that edges and grips on vertical to gently-overhung problems and routes. Medial and lateral stabilizer rands keep your foot solid when you're edging, and the single-molded NeoFriction rubber sole won't peel away in the same way that standard climbing shoes do. Black Diamond coupled the leather upper with a odor-reducing hemp liner and a knit tongue for amplified ventilation.

My favorite shoe
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
Best shoe I’ve tried. Comfortable without sacrificing performance.

Focus was one of the most painful and difficult pairs of climbing shoes for me to break in. I got them in my street shoe size and they still felt really tight. The rubber that BD used on this is extremely stiff, which is actually really amazing for edging. However, it kind of feels like a one trick pony because the shoes felt slippery and unresponsive on any other kinds of foothold.

They're decent
Climbed on Muiras for years, then decided to try these out. They're pretty clunky, and not much feeling through the toes, but they're stiff enough to get the job done. I've only used them in the gym.

Great shoes I like the sole and the breathable material they have a couple hot spots and take a little time to break in but over all I would buy again

I like these shoes for cave or overhang climbing only not super comfy but I probably still need to break them in some more. More aggressive than anticipated

EXTREMELY Tight
This shoe is fine IF you can get it on your foot! The sizing is way off. I wear a 10.5 in all other BD climbing shoes and I had to size up to 11.5 with these, and even that is too small. They also take forever to break in so prepare for some pain before glory with these.

street shoe sizing, perform great, longer break-in
Unlike most climbing shoes I buy, I had to size these to my street shoe size to get the perfect tight fit. If BD can be consistent with this sizing, they are onto something good here. They were pretty stiff and greasy to wear out of the box, and I had my doubts, but after a few wearings, they broke in brilliantly, and I have sent some of my hardest projects on them so far. Really quite pleased, despite my doubts. Only bad thing to note is the velcro inside the forefoot strap has torn. I used a little seam-grip to hold it down, and its working ok so far. The shoes seem way more durable than most on the market, so I need to keep that strap functional.

Solid shoe. Great grip
Bought these a month ago. Great in the Climbing gym and even better outside. I have Better confidence while on the wall.

Worst shoe ever
Bought these shoes as a gym shoe, they are still to the MAX! Imagine climbing with 2x4s and the slick rubber as soles. They are almost to the end of their life and have only loosened up in the slightest. 1 out of 10 would not recommend (unless you are trying to provide a little more difficulty to your projects). They really are not even that comfortable. All in all I really did not enjoy this climbing Shoe lol.

Happy with my purchase
As a novice to sport climbing, i don't feel fully qualified to rate these shoes. I have started climbing to spend more time with my wife and sons who are all good and more experienced climbers. I have been very happy with these shoes on the "old man" routes they have found for me to experience the joys of climbing. I like the slight downturn of the toe and love that i can stick to tiny little shelves, cracks and holes in rock. The shoes fit great, and seem well constructed, but never knew i would be a size 12. I am normally a 9 to 10 in all other shoes.
