Can't complain for the price

Good backup headlamp. Materials feel a bit on the cheap side, works as it should. Can't beat it for the price.

Great head lamp, obviously not an extremely bright spotlight but the dimming feature is fantastic. I leave it on the lowest it can go and its perfect for in the tent and around camp.

This is the second Black Diamond headlamp I have owned and the quality is great. It’s light weight, low profile and comfortable to wear. I like the ability to dim or brighten. When on full bright, you have an illuminated area of view like you won’t believe from such a small device. I bought a total of 4 for the family and everyone really enjoyed using them on a recent backpacking and camping trip. Also, I like the color options, too.

Great Inexpensive Head Lamp!

The Astro 175 is a great head lamp. I like the light weight simple use of this head lamp. I bought 3 - one for my backpack, one for my truck, and one for my toolbox.

Perfect for wide, close up illumination.

I recently bought the Astro as a back up to keep in my car but quickly realized that I will want to test it as a regular, around the camp light; I found the power and width of the beam to be more than high enough for close up work without that annoying tunnel vision that comes with tighter beams. Even though it doesn't have a red LED for conserving your night vision, it has mode memory; if you turn it off at the lowest level, it will turn on at that same low level the next time. User interface is simple enough. Battery life seems quite good. I would have liked to see a glow in the dark switch and a softer, less defined edge of the beam. A retractable wire/headband as I have seen on another brand would be very practical if you don’t like keeping a light on your head all the time but in your pant pocket where you can quickly get to it.
