The Rapide SL Insulated Sleeping Pad is light, tough, and packable enough to carry in our backpacks, adding comfort to our backcountry bedroom. It comes in a surprising amount of sizes, including a double-wide tapered version that fits neatly into the bottom of a backpacking tent. Laminated nylon ripstop resists punctures and tears, even after several trips. A quilted topper, PrimaLoft insulation, and a heat-reflective barrier provide the warmth and comfort we seek from our beds back home.

Leaking after two trips
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
The pad is thick and comfortable as expected, but after only two trips, air starts to leak from the air intake slowly.

The perfect pad
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
- Height:

- Weight:

I used this on a camping trip to California where the low was 20 degrees F at night. I paired this bag with the BA Daisy Mae 0 degree bag. It was quiet, comfortable, and took no time at all to inflate. I like the feature of the one inflate hole and one deflate hole, it was extremely easy to use! It also packed down super nice and is lightweight and would be suited to take into the backcountry. #BackcountryGearhead

Insulated, superlight, compact, 3-season air chamber sleeping pad When it comes to superlight, three-season comfort, the Rapide SL Insulated pad stands alone. Built with offset I-Beam construction, this proprietary design reduces weight while providing multi-directional support for consistent stability and comfort. This superlight air chamber pad sleeps warmer using PrimaLoft® Silver Insulation and is third party rated with an R-Value of 4.2 for use through three-seasons. The Rapide SL Insulated is lighter, tougher, more packable, easy to inflate/deflate, and provides superior performance and packability for any adventure. Save your breath for the miles ahead and use the included pad inflation sack to inflate.

Alaska Range and Denali Proven
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer

- Weight:

I used this pad on two ski expeditions in the Alaska range in April and one Denali Expedition in May. I found it to be incredibly comfortable and warm. One of my co-guides bought this pad after our trip because it was so much more comfortable and quieter than their pad. I used this in temps down to -15F and had it paired with a closed cell foam pad that fully covered underneath it and never felt cold creeping up through the pad. It inflates super easily with the pumphouse ultra stuff sack. It packs small enough to use on weight conscious missions and comfortable enough to use on long expeditions. I am a full time, year-round mountain guide and a member of the Big Agnes team I received this gear to test and use.

Double pad, not so great

For Double Pad used in a Big Agnes tent. Two significant problems that led to a return. 1) Double is still a single air chamber so any movement by one person bounces the other; allot. Can reduce inflation to try to mitigate but then one person getting up early or for nature's call at night results in the other hitting the ground. (for 2 people of 130-160 lbs) 2) Noise. Though supposedly made of 'quieter' materials the friction and noise between pad and tent floor is LOUD. Enough to wake you or your partner as well as anyone nearby. (friends, family... folks in adjacent sites.) Can cause a synchronous squeaking noise just by being in the wrong position and breathing. Absolutely need some double sized soft fabric (sheet?) between pad and tent floor (or even the hardwood floor at home) or sleeve the whole thing to allow the pad-to-tent fabrics to slide and avoid the squeaking. But then... the pad slides and ends up off that silencing sheet to contact the tent somewhere and... squeak squeak. It IS the pad bottom to tent floor friction that causes the 'squeak'. Defeats the purpose of the pad needing to carry something additional to keep it quiet. Tried in two BA tents (Copper Spur 2 platinum and Copper Spur 3 HV) and both exhibited same noise. Pad is genuinely comfy and expect the single to be a better choice but beware the noise possibility. The bounce and noise of the double outweighs the comfort.
