The say you have to choose between speed and comfort, but that's not so with Asics' Gel-Evate 2 Men's Running Shoe. While plenty of shoes opt for a less-is-more approach, the Gel-Evate dials up the comfort with a plush FluidRide midsole and GEL heel and forefoot cushioning, so you can pound the pavement without the shock radiating into your joints. FluidRide also returns energy, giving you a little forward boost during toe off, while the Guidance Trusstic system allows the sole to flex progressively with your foot, so you're working with the shoe and not against it. Asics made the upper from a breathable and durable combination of synthetic fabrics and mesh, and lined the Gel-Evate with a ComforDry sockliner to wick moisture away from your feet and prevent blisters. As a finishing touch, Asics outfitted the heel with a Heel Clutching System counter to prevent heel slip, and laced the Gel-Evate up with discrete eyelets, which spread lace tension to provide a glove-like fit without pinching or over-tightening.
