I never write reviews for things, but goodness gracious these are seriously amazing shoes. I’ve had trouble with my hiking boots lately and decided to try a hiking shoe. First I bought Hokas, which have a super plush sole and were supposed to be very comfortable. I hated them! That much foam under my foot made me step weird, the mesh on top felt plasticy and bent weird when I stepped, and the arch support was awful. I had a big hike planned just a week away and knew they weren’t going to work. I returned them and got these Altras in the nick of time. They are AMAZING! They are so soft and comfy on the inside and without the bulky foam I felt like I would walk very naturally. The toe box is so roomy! I can NOT do small toe boxes anymore. I was mostly impressed by how, even without the typical raised area on the inner sole, the arch support was the best I’ve ever felt. It’s like they immediately conform to the shape of your foot. I skeptically, dangerously wore these shoes on a 10 mile day hike, with 2000 ft in elevation gain and loss, right out of the box, without a single issue. No blisters, aches, or hot spots. I think I’m a lifelong Altra customer now.
