Overall, a nice, well-made pack. Unfortunately, the stretchy side-pockets are very small, and cannot hold the thinnest of water bottles. While the bladder system looks good, I always carry a spare water bottle for filtering water, and for non-drinking purposes. Had they added about two inches of stretchy fabric to each pocket, they would have nailed it. Seems like they let the cost accountants get in the way. If you never carry a water bottle, this would be a great hydration pack for you.

Awesome Hydration Pack!

Purchased 2 of these packs, one for me and another for my wife. The packs exceeded our expectations! It is very light, the bladder system was easy to remove from the pack for cleaning, and for adding water. The zippers work flawlessly, trek poles loops were definitely a feature we were looking for in a hydration pack and this pack has it. The drink tube and check valve worked wonders, no more holding or packing bottled water, many pockets to organize your things. I have done many research for this specific brand pack, and when they came in, the model name tag that came with the pack was unfamiliar to me. It had a tag called "Thunderhead". So I called Alps Mountaineering to verify the authenticity of the bag and I was told that it was definitely a genuine Alps Mountaineering pack and the reason for the "Thunderhead" model tag was that this specific bags were requested by Backcountry themselves for their own to be sold only by them. I guess this is why I never see this color combo of ALPS Mountaineering Hydro Trail 17L Hydration Pack in other local stores and online. Backcountry is the only store that I know of that carries it in this color combo. The best thing about this pack is the price!! I was able to buy 2 of them for the price one here locally at my sporting goods store and still saved some money. I purchased one earlier for $150 at one of my local sporting goods store, it was a different color combo. When I got home and checked online to see if anyone else was selling it lower price, I found Backcountry selling it for $58, so I immediately bought 2 of them and returned the other pack back that I bought locally back to the store. Backcountry sent my packs UPS 2 day delivery and within that time, both packs came in one box. Both packs were brand new and still in plastic wrapping. I am happy that I found this pack here at Backcountry! This was my first purchase with Backcountry and it wont be the last!
