It never feels good to run to your local shop just to say “Heyyy guys, sorry can you mount this tire for me really quickly? I’d usually just do it myself, but...”. The good news is that you can spare yourself the embarrassment and the shop guys the hassle by adding the new air Airshot 1.15 Tubeless Inflator to your home shop collection. It’s a compressed air cylinder that you pressurize using a standard presta floor pump, so you don’t have to waste CO2 cartridges installing a tire that just doesn’t want to seat properly. The release tap lets you control the amount of air you’re letting out, so you don’t waste it all and have to start over, and the whole thing is barely over a foot tall, so it’s easy to stash away under your tool bench.

Lube Your Beads
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Just got done putting a transferred Maxxis Rekon 2.6 onto a Santa Cruz Reserve 30 rim. I swapped wheelsets between bikes and transferred tires over as well. 0-for-5 on getting the tire seated. Added a small amount of Stan's sealant between the bead and rim, both sides - all the way around, and bang-bang, seated. 5-stars as the Airshot shouldn't suffer for my ignorance. (Sidenote: The other part of the swap was Minion 2.4R/2.5F onto Stan's Flow MK3 which went on perfectly with just my floor pump, no airshot required. I'm guessing the wheel design plays a larger part than tire volume but I'm by no means a bike mechanic.)
