Busy lives filled with work and family obligations make it hard to get out on the bike as much as we'd like. If you're looking to take your riding to the next level, power-based training provides a way to quantify your muscular efforts so you can improve your fitness in the most efficient way possible. By incorporating power data into your regimen you can get the most out of every ride, whether you're training for an event or just want to be a stronger rider. The Stages Cannondale SI L Gen 3 Power Meter Crank Arm is a good way to get into the power game if you already have an existing Hollowgram Si or SiSL2 crankset. Simply replace your non-drive side crank arm with this unit from Stages and you've got a working power meter, with only a 15g weight penalty due to the power meter pod itself. The 3rd generation of Stages power meters saw updates that improve accuracy and signal strength, making it their most reliable unit to date.
Each Gen 3 power meter is individually calibrated to a claimed +/- 1.5% accuracy, compared to +/- 2% from the previous generation. Readings are accurate even during adverse conditions because Stages incorporates Active Temperature Compensation, which accounts for the difference in power readings caused by the strain gauges expanding and contracting during temperature fluctuations. Accuracy is further improved via an updated accelerometer and the addition of a gyroscope for more precise cadence measurements. An IPX7 waterproof rating and a strong power meter housing ensure that even wet weather won't keep you from getting out to ride.
Perhaps the most exciting update is the improved Bluetooth and ANT+ signal strength attributed to a new radio antenna that Stages claims is 6x stronger than previous generations, keeping your head unit connected the entire ride without frustrating lags in the data readings.
The system is powered by an easily-replaceable CR2032 battery that according to Stages provides about 200 hours of battery life. An LED indicator displays the battery life at start up so you know where you're at before you start your ride. Getting started is made easier using the StagesPower app that helps you get connected and allows for wireless firmware updates.

Great little power meter for a great price. Yes, it's only 1 leg power, but is 100x better than nothing. Having an indication of power zone is all you need to know where you are in your training zone, and how long you should be able to hold it for a PR, or Interval. Price and weight are easily the best out there! And if you have the same cranks for your road and mtb, like I do, then you only need one and you can switch b/t bikes (a hassle but only 15min process, which is worth $350 to me rn)! I am really glad I invested in a proper power meter and very pleased with this setup!!
