Perfect summer hiking boots
I’ve been wearing these boots for 3.5 years now and I’m really happy with them. I live in California, and while it doesn’t get really cold here in the winter it does rain and all the trails get muddy and wet, so I change into a goretex shoe for the winter time but this is my all-time favorite dry weather shoe, a perfect combination of a trail runner’s light weight and a boot’s ankle support. And did I mention how insanely comfortable they are right out of the box? Zero blisters, zero hotspots, zero discomfort. I went backcountry trekking in these shoes on three continents for a couple of weeks each time, wearing a 50 pound pack and they held up great - I noticed a tear in the fabric a week ago but hey, what’s one small hole over 3.5 summers of backpacking? I’d happily buy another pair if it comes out in a color I like (mine are dark teal/mallard duck color, and it’s beautiful)

Great support but worn too fast
Great traction, no slipping on a long 20-mile hike. Excellent toe protection along the front as well and plenty of padding for your feet on the inside. The laces stayed put but were too long and I ended up tripping over them which gave me a bit of a scrape, which I usually end up with at least one during a long hike :-(. I also noticed a tear along the seam that started on the left boot's upper front side portion after this long hike. The one thing that I did not like is there were portions of the trail that were sandy and the top portion allowed sand inside which meant when I stopped I had a lot of sand inside my boo the shoelaces kept coming untied as well. Overall really disappointed in this shoe. I was looking for a non-waterproof summer hiking boot, and I think if the fit wasn't an issue these would be great, they are super breathable and lightweight. The fabric is not durable I saw a little hole right when I got them but after I when for hikes I kept opening more and more now there are six big holes in the fabric of the shoes. Please make the fabric breathable and durable Thank You

Updated Review from MacNCheese Mom
I have been doing a lot of hiking over the last 3 months. These boots need more cushion and support in the insoles. I use extra heavy weight smart wool mountaineering socks. After 3 miles, my feet start aching, especially in the toe area and arch area. These shoes are okay on soft, sandy surfaces. But, hurt on hard surfaces like pavement or hard-packed shell-rock/gravel trails. The tread is fine going over rocky terrain or any terrain. It’s the interior cushion/support that needs improvement. After 5 months, hiking trails that are about 3 - 6 miles in length (about 2 - 3 times per month), I am starting to hate these boots as the padding is wearing down. I question how much longer I am going to wear these boots before tossing them in the garbage.

Color and Features are a +
I appreciate the color and the traction on these. Looking forward to my winter walks here in New England.

Comfort
my preference would be a little more cushion in insole.

What I Wear Everyday
68 years ago I had polio in my right leg. This spring my left leg decided it had had quite enough of doing far more than its fair share. However, if I wear my X Ultra Salomon hiking book my left leg is nearly pain free, is far more comfortable, and has decided to keep on trekking! Probably this review is not the typical review! (I own 2 pairs so that I can switch between the two.)

Comfortable and stable
These are the first pair of hiking boots that I have ever owned so I don't have anything with which to compare; however, these make such a difference when hiking up rocky terrain. Even better was coming down where my knees usually bother me, and I have to take it slow. Not anymore! Additionally, they're super light.

Love this shoe
Have been using this shoe for daily dog-walking over rough ground for a few weeks. It is light, offers good ankle support and as I have fallen arches offer good instep support. It is not waterproof, if water reaches the mesh you will have wet socks. I have purchased Salomon mid boots for the last 8 years and always get a UK size 6, the reason for not giving it 5 star is that this shoe is quite a snug fit. It only just fits me and I have narrow feet. I would suggest going up 1/2 a size than what you would normally get.
