Find your pulse with this solid, fast action fly rod.

New to the Sage lineup, the Pulse Fly Rod is designed and built to be the go-to workhorse of most anglers with all the solid componentry you'd expect to find on a Sage with a price tag that won't eat into your travel budget for the upcoming fly fishing season. Like most Sage rods, the Pulse is handcrafted in Bainbridge Island, Washington and is made with a Graphite IIIe material, which is constructed with glass scrims within layers of graphite. What does that mean to you? It means the Pulse has a fast action casting feel, is lightweight, and is strong enough to turn the toughest fish you can hook.

Sage has made the Pulse available in a wide range of weights and handle options to best suit the wide range of needs of anglers. Freshwater models range in weights from three to seven weights with three to six weights featuring a snub-nose, half wells cork handle with a rosewood spacer and up-locking reel seat. Six to seven weight options are available with a full wells handle, fighting butt, and anodized spacer and up-locking reel seat. All options come in a new lichen color with olive tread wraps and a black trim. The Pulse replaces the Response in Sage's lineup and has a moderate tip flex that is able to make long casts with ease, quickly turn over flies, and even push through headwinds when the afternoon brings obnoxious head winds.

    RODiculous

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Great rod for an angler who is not trying to break the bank. Feels great in the hand, and looks good and fishes well. Very responsive, and casts with good accuracy. Paired this up with the Rio In Touch line and have been very pleased.

    Absolute Beauty

Let's just start off by saying that Sage quality cannot be matched. Of all the rods i've ever used, Sage consistently puts out quality gear. You can tell that this rod was handcrafted just by looking at it. The color of the blank is just breathtaking. While this is a middle of the road rod for Sage, they don't overlook the details at all. The rod casts beautifly. It's action is definitely on the fast side and I am very impressed with the precision considering the price. The 9 foot 5 weight will definitely do pretty much anything you need for Utahs local rivers. The Pulse makes a great daily driver to serve all of your fishing needs. I am overall very happy with this rod and will continue to buy Sage products, as they never dissapoint.

      Makes a great gift

      • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

Got this for a friend, they swear by it. My friend has been fly fishing for a long time and they couldn't be happier with the performance of this rod.

      Nasty Rod

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This Sage Pulse is such a great rod. It's everything you would expect from a Sage plus more. Being one of Sage's middle of the line rods, this Pulse lacks no performance in any way at all! It casts like a dream, is super responsive, and I love the powerful fast action it packs. I have it in a 7wt and on top of all of the features it brings, it's a great looking rod as well. I love the light green color, and also the fighting butt (which we only carry in the 9'6" 6wt & 9' 7wt models). Overall though, this rod casts with extreme precision, has a ton of backbone to it, mends super well. It also throws everything from big streamers, to heavy nymph rigs, to small dry's with ease!

      Top performer

      • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

Sage produces what I personally think to be the best products on the market. However, with that comes a punch to the gut in terms of price. Not wanting to spend $800 on a fly rod, I made the decision to go with the Pulse. I have been pleasantly surprised. I purchased the 9ft 6in, 5 weight to serve as my every day/all around go to fly rod. I’ve fished with this rod on the Provo River (UT), Green River (UT), and also the Madison (MT) using all styles of presentation. Dries, nymphs, and streamers…this rod performs well for them all. This rod also will roll cast effortlessly. Great rod for the price. I wish the action was a bit faster, but other than that I have no complaints. And no, it’s not the Sage ONE, but it’s also half the price.

      Workhorse of a rod!

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I bought this rod with the intention of fishing dry flies on the Provo River. I've been amazed by its outstanding performance on both small streams and large rivers. Extremely responsive, accurate, and powerful. It truly has been a rod for every occasion. I would highly recommend it as a more than capable rod for a price that won't break the bank.
