There's padding at the back panel and shoulder straps, and an adjustable rope strap for long walk-offs. Great day bag

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Bought this bag for lite hiking with the wife and kids and for urban trips (football games, parks, etc.) where we need extra items of clothing or hydration. It's fantastic.

The belt has a pocked so you can easily tuck it away and it's not just hanging when you don't need it. It has a good amount of space, can be moderately compressed with the side straps, has a comfortable back pad and the pocket in the back that holds your hydro pack can also hold a laptop. The pockets are good too and well designed. The chest strap on the shoulder straps (for keeping the shoulder straps in) adjusts up and down with ease and the shoulder straps have pockets where the chest strap can tuck away when you're not using it.

I wouldn't use this for overnight camping, but it's not designed for that anyway. I can't tell you how well it works for bouldering or climbing. All and all a great little bag that's well designed and well suited for light duty hiking and general outdoor activities lasting less than a day.
