    Big mountains and big cities.

You're just as likely to find the Patagonia Men's Performance Straight Fit Denim Pant in the heart of San Francisco as you would find it atop El Cap. That's because it represents a harmonious balance of outdoorsy performance and city-worthy style. Its fabric is a blend of breathable organic cotton and moisture-wicking Coolmax that stretches for uninhibited mobility on the mountain. Its slim and straight fit looks just as good swinging on a climbing rope as it does swinging on the dance floor. Patagonia treated the denim in DWR to fend off light moisture and spilled beer.

    • Patagonia's performance denim for urban and mountain environments
    • Organic cotton denim blend with Coolmax for moisture management
    • DWR treatment fends off raindrops and light moisture

    Best Jeans Ever? Quite possibly.

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: 34/Short
    • Height: 5'8"
    • Weight: 180lbs

I just bought yet another pair of these jeans, as they are what I wear exclusively during the colder months. I love the fit; it is slim, but not too tight for my muscular skier legs. The stretchy denim is super comfortable and works great for climbing, and even shorter hikes, as well as everyday use so you can cruise straight the climbing gym after work without having to worry about changing.

I normally wear a 32/30, but these run a size small in the waist, so I always get a 34/Short and they fit perfectly,. Go get yourself a pair, you won't be disappointed!

    Awesome adventure jeans

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Height: 6'1"
    • Weight: 195lbs

They stretch well, breathe well, bead off water and can take a beating. If you want jeans that you can still take out in the woods and go on an adventure, these are for you. Just make sure you size up! ;)

    Solid, simple denim.

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Height: 6'3"
    • Weight: 220lbs

I bought a pair of these to replace some aging denim with an awkward hole in the crotch. Out of the bag the jeans were soft and comfortable. I sized up per other reviews and the fit was perfect.

The DWR treatment is a nice touch, I found myself in some unexpected rain and sure enough the water was beading on the surface of the fabric rather than soaking in.

Fit is relaxed, but not baggy. Overall very happy with the initial performance, I'm hopeful they will stand the test of time.

    Size Issues

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: 31 and 32
    • Height: 5'10"
    • Weight: 163lbs

I really wanted to keep these jeans, however, the sizing is incredibly off. I'm 5'10 163lbs and normally wear a 31 waist in jeans. After reading the reviews I sized up to the 32 which fit great around my legs but huge on the waist. I moved down to a 31 which was dramatically tighter around the waist and legs.

    Sweet Jean but too Skinny

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Height: 5'9"
    • Weight: 180lbs

I wanted these to work but they were way too tight in my thighs. I'm 5'9" and 180bls with pretty athletic thighs/calves and just can't fit into skinny jeans. I was hoping the straight fit would be a little looser, but it just wasn't enough.

    Horrible Jeans

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: 30 short
    • Height: 5'8"
    • Weight: 150lbs

These by definition are not Jeans (Denim) period. They are strech pants. The fit is ridiculously small. I wear a 30 waist in every jeans on the planet; except these apparently. I'd most likely need a 32 waist in these, as I can barely button them. As far as being a "Performance Jean" that is almost comical. I squeezed into these to see if maybe after wearing them on a hike they might stretch out a bit, and be more comfortable. I'm an off trail hiker, and these stretch pants caught on everything thing in the woods, pulling the fabric and basically ruining a 120 dollar pair of stretch pants. The only Performance activity these might perform well at is lifting 12oz. cans, sitting on a Bar Stool. I seriously want my money back, and will be returning these. Funny a women reviewed these, buying them for her man, and ended up keeping them instead. That's about what they are, women's leggings. Pathetic product from Patagonia!

    wears out quickly

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size

I wish I could give these jeans 3.5 stars. They're extremely comfortable and look really good but they wear out very quickly.

I got a pair of the nonperformance patagonia straight denim jeans about a year and a half ago and wore them everyday for work in an office. I also biked pretty frequently in them (roughly 30-40 miles/week to get around town) but 6 months later they had a small tear in the crotch. I brought them into the patagonia store and they replaced them immediately with no cost to me. I kept using the nonperformance pair they replaced and cut back on biking in them. 6 months later they were starting to wear thin the same place, so I brought them in to the patagonia store again to get them repaired. they repaired them and I got a pair of the performance jeans to try them out. like I said, these are even more comfortable than the nonperformance type, but 5 months later, they had an even larger hole than the pair i had gotten replaced less than a year before :/.

To be fair, I do wear them every day, and patagonia is really good about replacing them/repairing them when they wear out, but I expected them to last longer than 5 or 6 months. The second time i brought them in, the clerk said the performance jeans wouldn't have the same problems with tears in the crotch as the non-performance type. I guess he was wrong. Anyway, I just brought the ripped ones into the store today and they replaced them again. we'll see what happens.

    Skinny Jeans

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: 30 short
    • Height: 5'8"
    • Weight: 150lbs

These Jeans run super small. I'm a 30" waist and i couldn't even close the button barely. These are not slim fitting, they're compression jeans. I go at least 2 sides bigger in the waist size if you're considering buying these tights (I mean jeans). They do seem to be made well and I really liked the color.

    Timeless.

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 28
    • Height: 5'3"
    • Weight: 110lbs

Originally I bought these for my husband, who deduced that they were too narrow in the waist for him (he waffles between a 28 and a 29 depending on the brand, but decided that the 29 in the Performance Straight Fit was more comfortable), so I adopted the 28-waist jean instead and I'm kind of obsessed with this pant. It's super convenient that boyfriend-style pants are all the rage right now, because I love the way this pant fits and feels. I definitely could have opted for the short inseam, but regular does just fine. I tight-roll these jeans when I need to get the cuffs out of the way.

I don't have much in the way of curves, but where I do have them, the fabric stretches comfortably to accommodate them. The 28 fits comfortably on my natural waist, not too tight or too loose. The thighs are taut, but not painted on, and the rest of the denim fits as a men's jean typically does. The wash is dark, but ages super well when you wear them as often as I do. Also, I'm a 25 in the Patagonia women's denim, for fit reference. I wish, wish, wish that Patagonia had the performance denim line available for women, but I'll take a boyfriend-fit jean any day of the week.

    Skinny jeans. Large waist.

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: 31
    • Height: 5'11"
    • Weight: 150lbs

These were way too skinny. Not slim, skin tight. Think Levi's 510 or 511 with tapered ankles. The waist sizing is off. I'm a 30 and ordered a 31 which was still pretty tight. I ordered the grey color which was really nice and had a hint of blue. The denim is very soft. Not very water repellent. I wouldn't recommend these unless you have crazy skinny legs. And I'm a pretty skinny guy.

    daily denim

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 31
    • Height: 5'6"
    • Weight: 160lbs

I've been wearing these several times a week when it's cool enough for the last two years. The wash still looks great and the fit is perfect. Overall, these are a timeless pair of jeans in every way. Fit, wash, durability, stretch - they're 5 stars in all areas.

Forge Grey is great new color!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 34X32
    • Height: 6'2"
    • Weight: 185lbs

I just got the Patagonia Performance Straight Fit jeans and the color is awesome. It's a perfect break from traditional blue jeans and somehow feels a bit softer than my old blue ones. Fit is true to size.

    Awesome pants, but...

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
    • Fit: Runs small

I got these pants for my boyfriend, and they certainly do function as advertised. Great jeans for climbing or all-around adventuring. They are tough, comfortable, and flexible.

However, the polyester content is what ended up disappointing. Once the smell of sweat or mildew got into the fabric - my boyfriend could never get rid of it. It's like polypro. Oh the stink.

I'm checking out some small startup companies on IndieGoGo that make stretchy adventure-type jeans from 99% organic cotton (instead of 71% here). Love you Patagonia, but seriously, the polyester isn't necessary...

    Fantastic

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 34x32
    • Height: 6'0"
    • Weight: 175lbs

Fit great, look solid, and the material is really, really nice. Just a bit of stretch, and they dry quickly. My only complaint, as others have mentioned, is that it would be nice to have some more wash options. Regardless, I'll probably pick up another pair.

    Favorite Jeans

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Height: 5'10"
    • Weight: 175lbs

These are absolutely my favorite jeans. Stretchy, straight cut, and look great. Run a little small, I normally wear a 32x30 but went with a 33x30.

    Unanswered Question

    Will these jeans shrink?

Usually wear a 30 so not sure if I should size up as I like to just throw my jeans in the dryer after washing.
