    Big mountains and big cities.

You're just as likely to find the Patagonia Men's Performance Straight Fit Denim Pant in the heart of San Francisco as you would find it atop El Cap. That's because it represents a harmonious balance of outdoorsy performance and city-worthy style. Its fabric is a blend of breathable organic cotton and moisture-wicking Coolmax that stretches for uninhibited mobility on the mountain. Its slim and straight fit looks just as good swinging on a climbing rope as it does swinging on the dance floor. Patagonia treated the denim in DWR to fend off light moisture and spilled beer.

    • Patagonia's performance denim for urban and mountain environments
    • Organic cotton denim blend with Coolmax for moisture management
    • DWR treatment fends off raindrops and light moisture

    Great Everday Jeans

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 32 short
    • Height: 5'7"
    • Weight: 165lbs

I really like the fit of these jeans. I have bigger legs so I have a tough time finding jeans that arent too tight but also form fitting. The extra stretch in these fit the bill. They are super comfortable and I can wear them all day in the office or out on the town. The dark color goes with a t shirt for every use but also looks great with a button up if you need to dress up a bit.

    My go to jeans

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium
    • Height: 5'11"
    • Weight: 155lbs

I wear these to work, around camp, and to the bar. These are really my go to pair of pants. They're stretchy, durable, and wear well right off the shelf. The only issue I have is with the stitching around the pockets. For some reason the stitching at the top of the front pockets seem to wear faster than they rest of the pant, resulting in some holes on the inside of the front pockets.

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Height: 6'1"
    • Weight: 190lbs

These jeans are pretty awesome. No more uncomfortable denim! They are super stretchy and breakin nicely. Size up though because they run a bit small.

Dark in color and runs small in size

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: 32 Reg.
    • Height: 5'8"
    • Weight: 148lbs

The quality of Jean is pretty good as other Patagonia products, but the size runs small both in waist and legs。It's very tricky that same size of other Patagonia pants fits me well. One more, the color look too dark to me.

    Great Jeans. Love the fit.

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 32/long
    • Height: 6'3"
    • Weight: 170lbs

This is the best pair of jeans I’ve ever owned. My go to pants for several years have been the Prana Brion. They’ve always fit me and my lifestyle well. Because of that, I was determined to buy Prana denim. I never could find a good fit, though. The slim cut was too slim. The standard cut was to baggy. Finally, after reading all the positive reviews about these Patagonia jeans, I decided to give them a shot. I’m so glad I did. They look and feel like they were taylored just for me. I’m 6’3” and I weigh about 170lbs. The 32/Long is perfect. I havent worn them climbing yet, but I have hiked in them several times. The stretch is great. I also have a messy toddler, and these things shed whatever she throws at me without any stains or hassles.

    Great pant, smaller fit.

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: 36
    • Height: 5'8"
    • Weight: 200lbs

I love these pants, but they are definitely run a bit small. I have larger quads and normally wear a 34/35, but had to go 36 in these and they are still tight on the legs. Problem I typically run into with most pants, but this pair was a bit more than others. Keep in mind if you have larger thighs.

    great pair of jeans

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 32
    • Height: 5'9"
    • Weight: 160lbs

I like the stretch and the look. Many people have found them to run small. But I found them to be true to size. I originally bought one size up (33) but those were too big—even after washing them—so I returned them and got my normal size (32).

    Great product, sizing is tricky

    • Fit: Runs small

Got this as a gift and had this feedback to share:
"Patagonia anything is a safe bet and I can usually get the size I wear with no problem. These were a little small and with jeans a lot is personal preference but I felt I size bigger would have been good."

    Buying another pair!!!!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: 33 long
    • Height: 6'0"
    • Weight: 170lbs

Bought these as a gift, here’s what he had to say:

My. Favorite. Pants. Patagonia really got the fit dialed in here, not too slim, not too loose. I have climbing specific pants that impair a high step more then these bad boys, and you can wear them to the work, school or bar and not feel out of place. I would take the other reviewers advice and size up one in the waist, I typically wear a 32 x 34 and got these 33 long and they fit perfectly. Trust me, these will become your favorite pants. Buying another pair so I never have to get out of them, just which there were some other color/ wash options.

    Needed another pair

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 32 x 32
    • Height: 5'9"
    • Weight: 155lbs

These jeans are great. They stretch to move with you and are very durable. I have a pair from a couple years ago that have worn very well. You are not going to go wrong with these pants.

Followed review advice and had to return

Many of the reviews on Backcountry and Patagonia, stated that they had to size up. I'm a slim guy and normally wear a 30x30 in Levi's, but took the advice of many and sized up to a 32. The result was a loose and sloppy fit around the midsection and crotch. Love the material, hue and stretch of the Dark denim though. I'm returning these for the 30's and am rating 5 stars. Neither Patagonia nor Backcountry are to blame for me following other advice.

      Hey Chris,
thanks for taking the time to write this review! Sorry the sizing didn't work out the first time - how things fit is super subjective so it's always hard to know when to go with others advice and when to just go with your gut.
Still, I'm glad you found a pant you love!
      Your Gearhead,

      Best Jeans Ever? Quite possibly.

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: Runs small
      • Size Bought: 34/Short
      • Height: 5'8"
      • Weight: 180lbs

I just bought yet another pair of these jeans, as they are what I wear exclusively during the colder months. I love the fit; it is slim, but not too tight for my muscular skier legs. The stretchy denim is super comfortable and works great for climbing, and even shorter hikes, as well as everyday use so you can cruise straight the climbing gym after work without having to worry about changing.

I normally wear a 32/30, but these run a size small in the waist, so I always get a 34/Short and they fit perfectly,. Go get yourself a pair, you won't be disappointed!

      Awesome adventure jeans

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: Runs small
      • Height: 6'1"
      • Weight: 195lbs

They stretch well, breathe well, bead off water and can take a beating. If you want jeans that you can still take out in the woods and go on an adventure, these are for you. Just make sure you size up! ;)

      Solid, simple denim.

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size
      • Height: 6'3"
      • Weight: 220lbs

I bought a pair of these to replace some aging denim with an awkward hole in the crotch. Out of the bag the jeans were soft and comfortable. I sized up per other reviews and the fit was perfect.

The DWR treatment is a nice touch, I found myself in some unexpected rain and sure enough the water was beading on the surface of the fabric rather than soaking in.

Fit is relaxed, but not baggy. Overall very happy with the initial performance, I'm hopeful they will stand the test of time.

      Size Issues

      • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
      • Fit: Runs small
      • Size Bought: 31 and 32
      • Height: 5'10"
      • Weight: 163lbs

I really wanted to keep these jeans, however, the sizing is incredibly off. I'm 5'10 163lbs and normally wear a 31 waist in jeans. After reading the reviews I sized up to the 32 which fit great around my legs but huge on the waist. I moved down to a 31 which was dramatically tighter around the waist and legs.

      Sweet Jean but too Skinny

      • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
      • Fit: Runs small
      • Height: 5'9"
      • Weight: 180lbs

I wanted these to work but they were way too tight in my thighs. I'm 5'9" and 180bls with pretty athletic thighs/calves and just can't fit into skinny jeans. I was hoping the straight fit would be a little looser, but it just wasn't enough.

      wears out quickly

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: True to size

I wish I could give these jeans 3.5 stars. They're extremely comfortable and look really good but they wear out very quickly.

I got a pair of the nonperformance patagonia straight denim jeans about a year and a half ago and wore them everyday for work in an office. I also biked pretty frequently in them (roughly 30-40 miles/week to get around town) but 6 months later they had a small tear in the crotch. I brought them into the patagonia store and they replaced them immediately with no cost to me. I kept using the nonperformance pair they replaced and cut back on biking in them. 6 months later they were starting to wear thin the same place, so I brought them in to the patagonia store again to get them repaired. they repaired them and I got a pair of the performance jeans to try them out. like I said, these are even more comfortable than the nonperformance type, but 5 months later, they had an even larger hole than the pair i had gotten replaced less than a year before :/.

To be fair, I do wear them every day, and patagonia is really good about replacing them/repairing them when they wear out, but I expected them to last longer than 5 or 6 months. The second time i brought them in, the clerk said the performance jeans wouldn't have the same problems with tears in the crotch as the non-performance type. I guess he was wrong. Anyway, I just brought the ripped ones into the store today and they replaced them again. we'll see what happens.

      Unanswered Question

      Will these jeans shrink?

Usually wear a 30 so not sure if I should size up as I like to just throw my jeans in the dryer after washing.
