So close to perfect!

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I'm always looking for a great long term bag and I only want to buy one product fro many years - this bag does it! I love the quality and color, black, the material is high quality and the backpack straps feels excellent for long term walks.
When I was on the airplane it fit perfectly in the compartment overhead with no problem and was easy to bring down when getting of the plane.
There are a few things missing though, like a side carrying strap, because some people might like doing that.
The bag is NOT water proof from many reviews I've seen.
Its a little difficult to bring into itself, as I have experience it.
Yet it is a awesome product and would suggest to friends!

Really great bag!!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

it is my first Patagonia duffel and so far its been great, its very spacious and very sturdy I'm not worried about it falling apart any time soon. I travel a lot back and forth from school to my parents and it fits everything in one haul.

Great, but...

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This is a great bag. Super roomy. Well made. However, there are a few things that would have earned 5 stars.
First, it would be great to have a strap to allow you to carry over your shoulder.
Second, it would be great to have one or two more separate pockets.
Those are really the only quibbles I have, I would honestly have rated the bag a 4 1/2 stars if possible.

sweet bag

this bag is big but perfect to fit everything your traveling with in one bag. cool feature with the straps to use as a back pack when its fully packed. nice to just throw on your back and roll out.

    Go-To Duffel

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Out of 4 big duffels I own, this one is my go-to for everything. The hideaway backpack straps make it easy to haul, and it has just enough smaller pockets to keep track of loose items. The main compartment has plenty of space, and I've never had any issues with the zippers. I've had it for almost a year now and it has held up to all the abuse I can give it. Besides being a little dirty, it looks almost new. I don't think it's technically waterproof but I use it as if it is (short of totally submerging it) because it's so effective at keeping things dry. You won't be disappointed by this bag!

I Get What the Hype is About

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Very well constructed and well thought out duffel. The materials seem durable and as it looks barely used after my first trip using this as check-in luggage. The shoulder straps make for a comfortable carry.

    Amazing bag

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Perfect bag for any trip. I bought this one thinking it would be too big but honestly I don’t care. I can throw my clothes and utilities in there and it’s perfect. Love the colors and materials

    What a Bag!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Durable material with a great design while being extremely versatile and great to travel with. The amount of space and having the option to wear as a backpack or carry by the straps was a huge selling point. This is a must buy item.

    Fantastic bag for travel

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Trips to Costa Rica and Aruba this spring both using this bag. Well built. Didn’t get anything wet in the inside when our luggage was rained on being brought from the plane to the terminal. Still looks brand new. Easy to Cary like a duffle or backpack. I have the 60L as well. These bags are a must for a weekend or a week. Very impressive!!

    The best duffel ever!!

Durable and I love how it's waterproof and versatile, so sturdy I imagine I will be using this for years to come. Works well for long trips and just spending the night at a friends house. I also use it to put all my ski stuff in for a long weekend of skiing.

      The real deal

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

This bag is incredible. Love the simple design. The shoulder straps are so convenient and surprisingly very comfy! This things really lives up to its name....so much room for everything you need.

      A very versatile bag!

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This bag is awesome! It can be used for almost anything! I use it from the gym to trips and vacations. The 90L provides tons of space and holds more than you think you could fit. Love how light and durable it is as well!

      Black Hole +++++

Versatile bag. I use this bag in 2-3 night trips and in all conditions. I have used this on personal trips, working trips, and recently on a camping trip in extreme weather conditions including snow, rain, and ice. The contents within the bag have never been compromised. There are storage areas inside the bag for personal items and an outside pocket for quicker “on the go” items.

        Great Present

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Bought this for my partner as a Christmas present and he loves it! It's more durable than his old one, and the exterior coating helps protect it when we toss it in the back of the car with wet ski gear.

Put in on the Pizza! (er, packing list)

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I'm on the road a lot for work and needed a bigger vessel for all my objects. The 90L is a great size for many days of clothes+bike and ski gear. This bag is burly and durable. The one main pocket does make it a black hole...I once lost socks for a week, but it is super convenient for those longer forays. The Marigold color is a great eye-catcher for always finding *my* bag at the airport baggage claim.

More engineering than you might ever req

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Great bag, 90l is not as big as some of my TUMI rolling duffels... but it might be so over engineered that it will outlive me....

        Unanswered Question

Is this bag long enough to accommodate a pair of 24" long hiking poles? They can't go in my carry on bag. Thanks

Would the 90L be able to accommodate two ski boots as well as clothing for a 5-7 day ski trip?

        Best Answer

Should be more than enough room for a pair of ski boots, a weeks worth of baselayers, an outer shell set, and some resort/around-town casual wear. Hope that helps, Adrian. Let me know if you have any additional questions.

Do you ship to Korea this product?

Hey! We cannot ship patagonia outside of the United States. if you have any other questions, feel free to email or give me a call. Thanks!

        Is it waterproof?

        Best Answer

Hey Ashley - the short answer is yes, the Patagonia Black Hole Duffels are waterproof. The 900D polyester ripstop outer material and DWR finish will keep your belongings dry in most situations. I would not however recommend this for rafting or other water adventures where a true dry sack would be more appropriate. Feel free to contact me directly with any additional questions.
