MX99 Ski

The Kastle MX99 Ski is really at home on steep, firm, groomed trails, but possesses the versatility to occasionally charge through deeper or more variable conditions. It's happiest at speed, and remains impressively stiff and stable thanks to the layers of carbon, Titanal, and fiberglass that surround the dampening wood core. The traditional camber and flat tail provides reliable edge hold on hardpack, and the flat tail locks you into each turn and gives you power into the next. Compete with vertical sidewalls for torsional stiffness and quick control from edge to edge, the MX99 is literally born to rip.

I'm with Evan!

I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I completely agree with the review below. Evan only let me borrow them for two runs because he was having too much fun on them. They are a great ski. I was skiing on a pure front-side 72 waist ski on this day and these skis were more fun. They are fast, have endless grip, push effortlessly through crud and are very quick edge-to-edge for a 99 waist ski. If I could afford a pair I would be on these skis at least half of the year. They are the best mostly front-side ski that I have ever been on.

I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I had a chance to take these skis out to Deer Valley for the day and I couldn't have been more impressed. I know ski reviews are ridden with hyperbole but, I feel like the praise is justified with this pair. I have skied plenty of aggressive carving skis and was ready for these things to take me for a ride. While I did ski them pretty aggressively, it did not feel like they were trying to kill me, like I had expected. At the same time, these skis just do not have a speed limit. I skied the 176 length, pointed them straight down the hill and they did not flinch. at all. The stability made it seem like it was a ski that was 10 cm longer and extremely stiff. At the same time, this ski is actually a lot more forgiving than you would expect. While it loves speed, it actually skis surprisingly well at moderate speeds as well. You can slide the tails out if need be and you do not start to panic when you head for a field of variable snow. Is it the best ski I have ever skied in chop? Definitely not. But, it was extremely impressed with how well it handled. It felt like this ski had multiple personalities as it seemed to soften up at moderate speeds but somehow get stiffer as my speed increased. I have never been on anything like it. If you're looking for the best ski you can buy for the frontside, this is your ticket.
